With only a month until I head off to Japan, sushi felt like the right choice for dinner. Sushiya was the first sushi restaurant I visited after I moved to Edinburgh and it quickly became my favourite! It is very small inside so make sure to book as it is also extremely busy. Because it’s so small, it has a nice intimate and cosy atmosphere. If you can’t get a table they offer takeaway, but unfortunately they do not deliver. It is however, in a very handy spot in Haymarket, which makes it easy to find. The food here is delicious, we normally have a selection of rolls and sashimi and everything tastes exceptionally fresh and full of flavour. I would highly recommend the rainbow roll and the dragon roll. For being a busy restaurant the service is friendly and not slow and the prices are pretty average for sushi.Make sure to add Sushiya to your sushi spots to try in Edinburgh!
Being a big sushi fan and living so close to this place, finally I’ve decided to try it! I did take away as the restaurant was full (it has like 20 seats available only). The staffwas extremely friendly and nice. They offered us water with lemon while waiting for them to prepare our food. It was not the best sushi I have ever tasted, but it was not bad atall!! I liked it! It is a bit expensive and they don’t have much variety, but if you prefer the typical simple sushi with good rice and good fish, this is a really nice place. Iwill probably order again from here. Maybe I will try to book a table and eat there next time… It is a very welcoming place. Very cosy.
Great for casual sushi. I’m an avid sushi fan and this place was great. It is small but I think that adds to the charm. The sushi is good and freshly prepared and the soft shell crab tempura is to die for. It’s more relaxed than other sushi places so ideal for an informal or casual dining experience. I would recommend booking as it is small and very popular. Only slight negative is the high tables but it does make it easier to perv on other peoples food. The raw beef is delectable on the sushi is perfect size to be eaten in one bight as opposed to that awkward two bite fall apart sushi. Great little spot, highly recommend
Best Sushi in Edinburgh. We have tried nearly all sushi restaurants in Edinburgh and this is the one we keep coming back to. Their dragon rolls are to die for!
Best Japanese in Edinburgh I’ve found. My boyfriend and I try a new Japanese restaurant every anniversary and none measure up to Sushiya. Salmon sashimi and dragon roll are great. Highly recommend
Possibly the best sushi in Edinburgh! First of all it’s a tiny place which is always packed, which should tell you how popular it is, always book in advance. Have tried most of the stuff on the menu, great reprsentation of Japanese food OUTSIDE of japan. Large portions on rice and noodle dishes, watch out for the soup noodles, the come in family size! All in all one of my favourite places in Edinburgh 9/10
Poor poor faux japanese food. I have been an avid fan of the japanese cuisine , but this isa shocking interpretation of one the best foods in the world. Poor selection , avoid at all costs not worth the money!!!!!!!!
