Ordered a takeaway over the phone on a weekday, waited 2hrs, to find the driver had gone to the wrong address even though I’d given a full address (including postcode). Phoned Chows, the offered a 1 credit for wasted time and cold food. So all in all – no idea what the food would have been like – shocking customer service.

Hadn’t been anywhere near Chow for a long time. Saw a Groupon type deal and decided to go for it to check it out again. Was pretty pleased. Service was very good, was getting busy, even for a Sunday night but they were really attentive. We both enjoyed our food (pics added) and left full and happy. Food was well cooked, both mean and bean curd dishes were cooked well and tasted great. Bit unsure given recent reviews but I can’t fault anything at all – ok maybe the tiny slightly unclean toilet but no big deal against the delicious food we had. Plan to go back.
Reading the other reviews I’m quite surprised. When I went with a party of four we had shocking service, the fact that we didn’t immediately want a drinkn on arrival was shunned at and we felt disdained ever since. It can be summed up in one statement really, my friend was refused a fork and we had to go and help ourselves from a nearby tray. Food was decent though, but still not a pleasant experience.
Monsuercreosote. A great wee restaurant ,lovely staff,
Great wee Chinese on Byres Rd. Quick turnaround and the staff can be a bit too attentive but the food is really good. We would recommend it.
Nonono!!. I reviewed this restaurant professionally (and negatively). But on a more personal note – it really was awful. It was small… VERY small, but I liked that…. until I saw how busy it got and how many people they let stand inside waiting for tables that weren’t available and wouldn’t be for a long time, and waiting for their takeaways. The food wasn’t your usual chinese. EVERYTHING, and I really mean everything…. tasted of garlic. I ordered a char sui fried rice, and there were 2 small pieces of char sui, the rest was veg and some sort of sauce that didn’t go with the dish at all.The service was dreadful, we had to ask for menus 4 times before we got them, same goes with drinks, food order, etc.The stairs were VERY steep and small, and the manager, a heavily pregnant woman, was bringing food up and down them constantly, which made me heart jump each time I saw her.Food, bad. Service, bad. It’s a shame.
