Bar food&staff. I don’t know if new management have taken over cottiers bar, but the staff did not seem to understand what my daughter and I were saying, we had to constantly ask for, water, cutlery, napkins, and the food was cold and they did not seem to care one way oranother, themanager seemed to be onher mobile phone all the time and looked at us with disgust when we had to interrupt her call and ask for the above, we live in hyndland and go there often, but not after today, what a horrible experience

Nothing vegetarian whatsoever. I like the atmosphere and location (though quite noisy due to a reflecting ceiling). However, no vegetarian meal whatsoever could be found on the lunch/specials/daytime menu (except the soup and one sandwich) the last 5 times I tried. This is annoying as this was quite different a year ago and we are talking about at least 15 dishes to choose from and not even a singe fish dish… …I guess I won’t try too often again.

Bliss. I returned to this stunning gemt this April after a very long time since the last visit and was oh so pleasantly surprised to find that the quality of the food and the atmosphere have only improved! Lovely, attentive staff and tasty yet simply, well prepared dishes. I had the organic Shetland salmon fillet, char-grilled vegetables, king prawn quinoa and pesto; one friend had the sweet potato, coconut and chick pea curry with homemade flatbread and pilau rice and the other had the slow-roasted shoulder of Dumfrieshire lamb with squash dauphinoise and minted peas. All presented and cooked beautifully. With wine and a couple of other drinks, it all came in at 50 for the three of us.I’d go back tomorrow, and the day after…14 Dec, 2009Just go – and go again.. I’ve been to Cottier’s t least 6 times now and it’s aways proved reliable for the lovliest food and very professional yet relaxed and efficient staff. Desserts always please, wine list is well stocked, the fish is always cooked to perfection and the surroundings are understatedly beauitful. The downstairs pub and beer garden are a must, too.

Good place. Usually busy and often have to look elsewhere as so crowded and no tables but understand why – good atmosphere, service and food. Great in Summer!

Reliable pub grub. A great local, superb outside seating and nice staff. Can get a little overrun with dogs and kids sometimes, but it’s a relaxed kinda place. Just watch your swearing! I love the chorizo pie when they do it, and the burgers are great.

Great place for wholesome hangover food. Ootdoor seating great for sunny afternoons. Service efficient and friendly even for groups.
