Worst Patisserie Ever!. Four of us went for a coffee and a cake. We waited at the door to be greeted only for no one to come so we sat ourselves down. We were then handed a menu. The menu is vague with only a few cakes on, so we went to view the cakes in the display cabinet. The waitress told us they had no chocolate fudge cake so we ordered two chocolate amaretto and two banoffee cakes. The drinks were brought long before our cake and the cakes were brought two at a time with 5 minutes between each serving. Once the cakes arrives they were freezing cold and the chocolate cake extremely dry. When we were finished the waitress didn’t remove our plates. 20 minutes later we asked for the bill, separate for each person. The bill arrived as one total then no one collected it. We waited a further 15 minutes for our change to be brought to us. We then left without a thank you. There is a reason this patisserie was empty and that’s because it has the worst customer service I have ever experienced and sub standard ‘cakes’. Do not waste your time or money here.
Poor service. Having ordered our drinks and sandwiches we sat outside waiting. 20,30,40 no 50 minutes later and still no food. Very poor service. Got up paid for the drinks and left
Coffee excellent, service good, cakes looked nice, sandwiches drastically overpriced. The coffee is the main thing this place does well. Apart from cafe andaluz it’s the best coffee in west end
Solid cafe food. After walking up Byres Road, we decided upon this cafe as a suitable venue for lunch. It was Saturday afternoon, and the place was predictably stowed out, but my companions and I found a table.Main course: I had a pastrami, gherkin and mayonnaise sandwich. My companions had Nicoise and French ham and mustard sandwiches. The portions were generous, and the bread of good quality.Service: the service was slow, as there appeared to be only a waiter and waitress serving the busy cafe. You had to grab them to get served, unless long waits are your thing. Despite their lack of numbers, the staff were polite and fairly quick to bring you your order, when they finally got around to taking your order.Overall, the food and beverages were solid cafe food, but not particularly inspiring. Additional items: one slice of lemon tart and a scone, one cup of tea, 3 small cappucinos and one fresh orange. The scone was somewhat dry, the tart spot-on, and the coffees were neither too bitter nor milky.Price: 29 for 3, excluding tip.
Amazing Cakes. I loved this place, the homemade caramel cake I had was fabulous and served with cream. The staff were friendly and the prices not bad for Byres Road.
No Card Processing. The cash only thing is very annoying – surely not that difficult to take card payments? Food was alright but nothing to sing and dance about. Average and nothing standout.
Totally ridiculous prices. A croissant that had been heated in a microwave served with a foil pack of butter and a thimble of the cheapest jam going cost a staggering 2.50. It didn’t taste great but at that price it really should have been delicious. My wife toasty was thrown together the plate was all faded and scored with age. Will walk past in future.
