Had a great time at bar soba at the weekend, the service was excellent. The manager took time with us, good banter, excellent food and of course great drinks! Will certainly be back! Korean popcorn chicken was so good!

Bar Soba does South East Asian fast food in the hart of New Town. I’ve eaten here several times and it is particularly handy when you are looking for somewhere to go out with a larger group. They also take the Tastecard now which means meals that were already reasonably priced (and very generous in portion size) are even more affordable. I like their large rum cocktails and the chilli martinis and am also partial to their nasi gorengs. They do a good ramen too. Whilst the food isn’t anything to write home about – it is hearty, generous and tasty enough. As it is quite busy most evenings, service has always been a tad bit slow. Otherwise, a pleasant place for a meal or even just drinks. quirkylifestyle.com

I like this bar in the city center! The look of it it’s beautiful in my opinion, they have a good selection of drinks and beers as well. Food is good but I had better Asian food. Nice place for a quick dinner and drinks! themeneghingirl.blogspot.com

Me and my friend met at Bar Soba last night for dinner and a couple of drinks. We had both been before so we knew that we liked the food. When I had been previously we sat at one of the small tables but this time we were at one of the big tables in front of the bar. I definitely preferred the smaller tables for eating as the bigger tables are not as comfortable, but they would be fine for just drinks. I order the teriyaki beef noodles and Tanja had the Katsu Curry, we also shared some edamame. The teriyaki beef noodles were delicious; I hate everything and the beef was cooked perfectly for me. I wasn’t such a fan of the edamame as I didn’t enjoy the seasoning. It was really busy when we were in last night but that helped add to the atmosphere, and even though it was busy we didn’t have to wait ages for our food.Bar Soba is a nice place to go for drinks and dinner after work or before a night out, as it is not fancy but the food is good, with prices to match. We were 20 each for 2 (alcoholic) drinks and our meals.

My friend, Louise had booked a table for a couple of us for the night as it was her Birthday. I arrived and went to the table which was marked ‘reserved’. After waiting for about 30 minutes I finally had my favourite drink – a long vodka. Which was really nice! Sometimes bars really struggle to make this drink properly, but Bar Soba made it perfectly!! We all then sat down to enjoy our drinks and were told that we had to move to the front of the bar as another party had came in and there was loads of them. We then had to carry our drinks, bags and Louise’s Birthday things all the way to the front of the bar… Then we had to wait for the people that were already there to move. It was all a bit of a commotion! We then sat at the other side which didn’t have the reserved sign. People were constantly coming over and sitting until the point that we all kind of got fed up of caring. The music inside Bar Soba is ridiculously loud!! To the point that you have to basically scream at your friend for them to hear you, it was a lot of hassle to actually get up and get a drink as the waiting time was around 20 minutes – which didn’t stop the people that worked there to throw around the cocktail maker and drop it, when someone went to the toilet – be prepared not to see them for 30 minutes. The interior of the bar was lovely – I really loved the lighting and the art around the bar. I really enjoyed spending the night with my Louise as it was her Birthday but I don’t think I would go to Bar Soba again – once is enough. isitvintage.com
