I have been meaning to eat at Barnacle & Bones for a while now but only finally got the chance last week, during the Fringe. The usual police style box eatery has a temporary set up in the RBS courtyard at St Andrews Square and is serving up all their usual treats! Barnacles & Bones specialises in crab and lobster with tarragon-salted fries. They were all out of crab so my mum and I had the lobster, which was dressed beautifully and the fries and coleslaw were perfect sides. We also shared the crab and sweetcorn fritters, which I was concerned might be a bit dry but again the crab had been dressed before being made into a fritter and tasted delicious. If you are looking for something a bit different to eat on the go, then definitely give this little gem a try!
Exactly what the Edinburgh Street Food scene has been needing! Despite the generous portions it leaves you wanting more every time… Thanks B&B, will definitely be back again next weekend for lunch.
I was in the area the other day so I decided to try this police box as I have heard so many great things about it. And I wasn’t disappointed! Hall, the owner, was just setting up as it was around noon when I stopped by. I ordered the crab with fries. It was delicious! I munched it very quickly before Grant Tinney showed up and ordered the beef. He really enjoyed his dish as well. We’ve been talking about coming back it’s just a shame that our office is at the other side of town. Hopefully we’ll have another meeting in the area soon and will stop by!
