About

Conveniently located in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town, set within the beautiful Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Cafe Portrait has become a firm favourite with tourists and locals alike, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and wonderful homemade food. Everything we cook or bake is prepared every day from scratch in our cafe kitchen, using seasonal, fresh and local ingredients wherever possible. Our daily changing menu includes soups of the day, hot and cold main dishes that will normally combine Scottish & International flavours (always with a modern twist), colourful and delicious salads, scrummy home baking and decadent afternoon teas. As we cook from scratch, you'll always find a variety of vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy free options.

Had a couple of salads which were both delicious. Was very busy but Veronica was exceptionally pleasant calm and professional in coping with the large queue. Scones by Holly excellent as usual! Great cafe .
