After struggling to get a table at anywhere (festival time) we ended up here. Both myself and the husband love mexican food so were happy to try out Chimichanga. We were seated straight away and notice a few empty tables – surprising considering it was a Friday night during the festival. I think the issue is people don’t realised its here.Ordered a sharing platter to start, this was really good. There was a good selection and just the right amount to share as a starter. For mains I went for the chicken burrito and the husband had a pulled pork enchilada. I enjoyed the burrito it had just the right amount of spice to give it a kick but wasn’t unpleasant. Had a wee taste of the enchilada which was also good. For pudding we had churros and the cheesecake both were good although the cheesecake was very sweet (couldn’t finish).Found it quite pricey for what we got, but wasn’t too expensive. The food was good but it didn’t have the wow factor. I think there are better mexican places in the city but this certainly isn’t the worst. tartanbrunette.co.uk
Please take my advice and do not eat here! This is the worst place I have been in some time.Service was appalling – ended up with sauce spilt on me, food took 90min to come and was nothing more than average.
Great little place;* simple, basic, yummy food totally inspired by Tex-Mex and Mexican* The decor relates to the Tex Mex theme too with little wooden worn out chairs, tables, bar area and little beach huts.* The menu is suitable for anybody of any age- fussy eaters, simple diners or those of a finer cuisine pallet.* Pricing isn’t too shabby either, not the cheapest of places but not hugely expensive either. The only little criticism we had was it was quite noisy as a place, the music seemed to be loud and coming from all directions alongside the rising levels of peoples chat to compete with the music (the place was quite busy for a Saturday night). All together the place was really nice and the food is wholesome and satisfying (We recommend the paella, sweet potato fries and the cheesecake).
The food gives a great blend of a tex me and they give options of mild to hot in spices. It has a wonderful feeling of being in Mexico with a twist of modern Edinburgh. worldoffaz.wordpress.com
