Worst restaurant I have ever visited..owner thinks he is d only person in d world who knows how to cook..they gv only takeaways coz after u return home u can’t do anything about food as it is too bad that u can’t even thinking of giving to poor also..He started fighting when my colleague mentioned that we want only peas in rice..he started saying who is cook u or me u will start teaching me how to cook..in third world countries people make customization not here…worst person worst customer service worst food worst behavior
I was delighted when hungryhouse.co.uk recently got in touch to tell me about their ‘Curry Guide’. Using data collected across the interweb they have come up with the top three takeaways in Edinburgh, and I was invited to try one. Delighted mainly because s.o. and I love a fancy meal out, but sometimes it’s even better to curl up on the sofa in front of a movie.Instead of a movie we had Dr.Who, and absolutely nothing beats a beer, a curry and Dr. Who. The only problem with takeaways for s.o. and I is that we always over order. Especially on this occasion, when the restaurant is so highly rated across the board. We opted for chicken pakoras and butterfly king prawns to start. These were wonderful, especially the pakoras which are new to me since moving to Scotland, the prawns were also good, however, by the time they reached us they were deathly cold. I put this down in large part to the fact that we are quite a hike from the restaurant. For our mains we went for our two favorite dishes that always get ordered, Lamb Pasanda and Chicken Tikka Massalam. This is actually not true, we usually go for Butter Chicken, but they sounded much the same to me in terms of spices. For sides we also went for Bombay Aloo and Sabzi Bhaji. I was delighted to see the latter on the menu, as it was my absolute favorite dish when I lived in India briefly. Sabzi can be any vegetable really and it’s cooked in a ‘gravy’ (what we would call a curry sauce I suppose). It’s usually very simple but always delicious, and one of my top ways to cook vegetables. This did not disappoint. I was delighted to tuck into it the day after as well and have since tried to replicate it. We also liked the Bombay Aloo but found the meat dishes to be not quite as good as we are used to. But that being said, I would reorder for the sabzi alone.A quick not on the sundries, nothing exciting here: rice, garlic naan, and raita. I always regret ordering raita from a takeaway because I think homemade is always better, and we did find the garlic naan to be not garlicky at all! So sundries. They did what they said on the tin.Overall, an enjoyable meal. Because our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs, I got to enjoy it for some days after. It was a real delight to have a dish that brought back so many memories for me, and next time my Indian step-grandmother is in town I know where to take her. I have to say that the meat dishes were not the best I have tried in Edinburgh, but more to come on that front… gastronomicum.blogspot.com
