When it comes to seafood restaurants in Edinburgh there is only one that has won my heart and that is Fishers. There are 2/3 of the chain in the city but Fishers in the City has been my restaurant of choice for sometime. Located on Thistle Street just behind George Street, the restaurant offers a warm and welcoming sport for dinner or lunch.I opted for 3 beautiful courses. Squid and Chorizo to start followed by a whole Sea bream with rocket and pancetta before finishing with the ultimate pudding of sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Each course was equally delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was a delight. If you are a sea food lover, there is nowhere else in Edinburgh that I would recommend more than Fishers. Beautiful food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere. If you havent been then go!

My boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to a ‘fancy’ lunch at Fishers. I ordered the mussels in garlic, cream & shallots, a fav of mine, it was a good size portion but came with no bread for dipping, unfortunately the (one) waitress was busy with the other tables (it was very busy) so I wasn’t able to request any bread. My boyfriend had the scallops which tasted amazing but were tiny. For our main course I had the fish & chips, crispy batter, decent chips, I loved this. My other half had went for the ‘Surf & Turf’. The ‘medium/rare’ rump steak was more medium/well done and as a result was very chewy & also fatty, the lobster was good, not what I’d expect for 35! Along with this we had a bottle of South African Chenin Blanc which was lovely, and being honest the only reason I am scoring a 2.5 is because my food was nice, the waitress was lovely as much as she was being pulled in 20 different directions and because of the wine. Other than that, overpriced & over-rated. We paid just under 90 for two courses and wine.

I came for a casual dinner with my mum and my sister on a saturday night. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the wooden aesthetic gives it a cosy and intimate feel without having to be cramped and uncomfortable. Sister chose main of beautifully cooked scallops accompanied by a homemade pesto so delicious that extra bread was ordered so not a drop was wasted. Mother and I shared the lemon sole on recommendation from the waiter that today’s catch was ‘huge’ and more than enough for one. Upon arrival, I must admit that we had different understandings of ‘huge’, as I could have quite happily finished it by myself. However, I have no complaints as it left room for dessert which was needed. The sticky toffee pudding here is divine, and they have an interesting selection of ice cream and sorbets from overlangsham farm, who also supply the apiary and three birds.

My boyfriend’s grandparents were in Edinburgh for the Royal Highland Show last week, so we arranged to have dinner. Knowing that they are seafood fans we decided to give Fishers a try as we had heard a lot of good things about it. Sam and I shared fish cakes and mussels to start, both were delicious. The side of bread was also very tasty, and perfect for dipping in the white wine and garlic sauce. We all had fish for our main course, and we all finished everything! I decided to order the lemon sole but Sam’s fish and chips were also very good.Although we had a bit of a long wait between our starter and our main course, the waiter had a great attitude and was very funny. The prices are quite high, but no more so than any other fish restaurant. Overall we had a great experience here, but due to the prices it’s not somewhere we would eat regularly.

I went here last night with my partner. We both had starters (the scallops), mains (pan fried hake), desserts (sticky toffee pudding and dark chocolate delice) and shared a bottle of white wine. Spotted lobster on the specials board shortly after ordering for a reasonable price and was very tempted to call the wait staff back and reorder, though I am glad I didn’t after eating! Everything we ate was absolutely delicious; the scallops were cooked perfectly, the hake was lovely and crispy on the outside with the perfect herb baste and melt-in-your-mouth once you’d cut into it. The wine we had worked well with the savoury and sweet meals. And the desserts were heaven! Portion sizes were spot on, not too little that you were still hungry, not too much that you’d left half on the plate. And I can’t fault the service – staff were lovely and helpful without being overbearing. In a nice spot on Thistle street, tucked far enough away from the bustle of the cbd that you can enjoy a peaceful meal. Will definitely be coming back to this place, two thumbs up, 5 stars, the whole shebang!

Great ambiance-but ask for a table in the front. The roast beet and goat cheese salad over spinach was amazing.

Fab fish cakes as usual. Chablis not bad either.
