I had the opportunity last week to visit the newly refurbished Chez Mal Bar at The Malmaison, Leith. The bar has been opened up and is light and bright. The patio out front is a wonderful space especially when the sun is shining. We tucked into a few of the bar nibbles – the mini burgers served were super succulent and the bun soft. Very tasty. The arancini balls and spring rolls where crispy and seasoned well. The Summer Classics Cocktail specials run Sunday to Thursday where cocktails cost 5! Bargain. We drunk a few glasses of Champagne, Pina Coladas, Mojitos and Painkillers. Thanks to Malmaison for the invites. tartanspoon.co.uk

We’ve eaten here a few times now and by far the best value is their big Sunday lunch. The restaurant is set is dark, cosy surroundings. The night we visited it was to try out their house burger which turned out to be delicious and sample some dessert. The hot chocolate fondant was delicious. So melty in the middle and so moreish. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in the area. edinburgers.co.uk

I went to the cafe as I was attending an Arcadia event.. I phoned the hotel beforehand to ask if I could park on the road outside – they were so friendly & helpful! The inside is beautiful & the cafe was so lovely. I really loved the plates and cups with ‘Malmaison’ on them. The cakes were really yummy! Had such a fab time! isitvintage.com

Boring! 100% style over substance. Why do places who claim to be exclusive such as here play such drab, horrible music?! Service not bad but slow. Food
