We stumbled upon Papavero on our last day in Edinburgh and had a lovely, leisurely meal in an intimate environment. My companion thought this was the best meal we had in a week though this has to be qualified by the fact that we were on a group tour and most of our meals were at hotels. The squid ink liquine with sun dried tomatoes was fantastic, the pizza was okay. Great beverage selection, I had two glasses of Falanghina wine and my companion had scotch. Meal was a fantastic value.
Great place, was here for a surprise birthday dinner for one of my friends and the staff were really understanding about our ordering and the delay and stuff like that.Food was good and the pizzas were especially amazing. The Ragu pizza was to die for. They even let us cut our own cake at the end of it. I must admit though, we had a 50% off all the food because of our booking through a specific site. I’m not sure if I would have though the food would have been worth it if it had been full price. At 50% off it was a bargain though!
Simple but delicious, Papavero is a good option for dinner or lunch on a budget in the New Town. They have some really good deals that will allow you to have one of their pizzas or a dish of pasta and a desert for under a tenner. Staff are friendly, although a bit slow. All in all, if you are looking for a quiet place for an informal italian-scottish dinner, give it a try. madaboutravel.com
Amazing find. Great cosy Italian with fresh decent Italian food. The chicken linguine was lovely and really enjoyed our afternoon here
