I was delighted to have an opportunity to visit and try out The Observatory Restaurant, which is at the hidden gem of The Glasshouse Hotel in Edinburgh. It has never until now had a public restaurant, so its great to get an insight into the world of a high-end boutique hotel and what its guests can enjoy! As we arrived the concierge took us up to the restaurant. We were greeted on the door by the evenings manager and were quickly seated. We were then served an Amuse-bouche consisting of an oak curried salmon with a beautiful celeriac puree along with a glass of fizz. I loved the drawing of the old church front of the hotel on the bag of the menu, made it very personal! The food was outstanding and I was really impressed to see the great quality dishes, from the tea smoked Duck starter, to the beautiful 28 day matured Buccleuch steak and the amazing tiramisu, with a beautiful coffee syrup. They were all well presented plates and a really good portion size for having a three course meal.I did however feel the service was a little scattered, as we did have to remind all staff of our drinks order. The service staff would ask if we wanted drinks, despite us having already ordered these with the meal. It was great to see the restaurant really busy, but it would have been nice if we had the same service staff throughout the evening, rather than all staff looking after all tables including ours. It has to be said that all the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. All in all a really nice evening, although I should probably have booked to stay over an experience the highlife, rather than having to go home, next time! kkjaersidephotography.wordpress.com
