I do like cocktails but I have to say that Tonic did not really fulfill all my expectations. I had heard great things about it but I found that although the staff was quite knowledgeable the place lacked charm and drinks were not that good. I will have to go back to see if first impressions were right madaboutravel.com

I’m quite a fan of this cocktail bar. In general, I’m quite a big fan of cocktails and Tonic has a great selection. I’ve spent several nights, trying those delightful little drinks. It was has a great vibe inside, yes it’s just off of George Street but you don’t get that slightly intimated feeling you get from some of the other bars in that side of town. I ended up spending New Years Eve here once and had a grand old time. They also have fairly attractive barmen… which I am not complaining about…Seriously though, if you like a good cocktail, get down to Tonic! frankly-ms-shankly.blogspot.com

We popped to Tonic for some pre dinner drinks, it was my first time there and I think I expected more from such a city centre bar. The decore is decent, it’s not flashy and you wouldn’t feel intimidated if George Street bars aren’t your usual haunts. We took a seat near the back – big mistake. We were sat near both toilets where we were greated with the stench of bleach crossed with urine any time the male door opened. The girls toilets had no loo roll in one cubicle, bit ridiculous for 6ish on a Thursday night. Waiter one came to take our drink order, I went for the ‘pornstar martini’ and Jamie a pint of Cobra. After about 5 minutes waiter #2 came over to ask what we’d gone for, ‘pornstar martini and a pint’, 10 minutes later the cocktail arrived with a pint of Tennants. Not what we’d asked for but J was ok with that. Our guess is waiter #1 forgot and when waiter #2 enquired ‘a pint = Tennants’. The cocktail itself was well made and you can tell a lot of work went into making it. The wait staff were pleasant and clearly well trained in mixology. I’d like to try a few more cocktails however I’d stay away from the back of the bar and maybe pack a few tissues in my bag.

Very cool place! I loved the ambiance, I loved the decor and I loved the cocktail menu even more! I went for a raspberry kiss cocktail (because Prosecco is rarely a bad idea) and it was absolutely delicious!Price range is a tad expensive – I’m new to this city so I don’t have much to compare it with, but let’s say that my cocktail alone was over 7.Seems like a perfect place for after work drinks, or meet ups, or girls’ nights out, etc. adventitiousviolet.com
