Decided to try out YES sushi today for a quick bite of lunch. Noticed a number of good reviews! Firstly we were greeted politely and seated in a window seat which had a heater under my chair! BONUS in the Edinburgh winter. Decided to opt for individual dishes instead of the all you can eat option. We were a bit disappointed with our choices.. Firstly the tuna didnt taste too fresh, and there was nothing super special about any of the dishes. The tuna donburi lacked some sauce and I was hoping to get some sort of vegetable or salad with the dish… It was just tuna and sushi rice.Edamame was a decent portion size, but a little too much salt.Friendly service and the miso soup was nice on a cold day, next time we will definitively opt for the all you can eat sushi deal to feel like it was worth the price
Had the hotpot and sushi all-you-can-eat for 18.99 and for what you get its actually pretty reasonable. We had the hot & spicy broth and the lamb broth, both of which were very good (the hot & spicy having quite a kick to it). There is a decent selection of meats and veg to cook in the broth. The sushi was good, but the selection wasnt great – you only get one salmon nigiri, but can order as much of the rest of the menu. It is a decent meal, but having spent time in Japan and had amazing sushi and hotpot (shabu shabu & nabe) there, I will always be very critical of any Japanese food outside of Japan!
