Excellent service, good food.. Visited first time on a Sunday night and it was busy. Would recommed booking a table or phoning ahead. The staff here are very welcoming, friendly and attentive. Made sure our drinks were flowing and took our orders without any delay. Ive never eaten Malayasian so the closest i can compare it to is chinese. However the food is better than any chinese restaurants ive eaten in in Glasgow. Far more authentic seeming, huge portions and decent range of exciting dishes. Try the Laksu. Recommend ordering side of veg as there isnt enough fresh veg through the food. Tendency for food to be a little oily but i am fussy about oil generally. i think their fish dishes will be decent judging by how good our prawn starter was. 36 for two mains, one starter, 2 cokes and 2 beers! If u need a star i would say 3.5.

Me and my husband LOVE this place. We have been twice now. Tasty, fresh food. Lovely staff, bright place and SUPER lunch prices. The won-tons and the Laksa are gorgeous!! Looking forward to going again!

BANANA LEAF. We had the pleasure of a very good dinner at Banana Leaf-Malaysia Chinese, food was authentic, reasonably priced, the staff friendly and the service excellent. We’ll be going again.

Lovely Lunch. I read reviews for this restaurant and thought that we would go for a supper/evening meal however we were in Glasgow at lunchtime and went to see if we could get in. We could and had a fabulous meal. The menu was large and we didn’t quite understand all of it even with the translation but the waiter was very helpful and we had a fabulous lunch. It didn’t matter that we couldn’t use chopsticks. I’d recommend this restaurant to all.

Home from Home. Really enjoyed the lovely food and service and price. The chief cook really knows his stuff. I have recommended this place to friends and colleagues and all share my enthusiasm for the food there. If you like Malaysian/Chinese food, this is the place to be in !!! 10/10

One of the best Malaysian restaurants in the UK, full stop. I ate here after a month absence of Malaysian cuisine. Ordered the roti canai starter, a firm favourite of mine in Kuala Lumpur (wouldn’t mind a roti telur, hint hint) and the nasi lemak, another favourite. They were delicious, matching the flavours I experienced in Malaysia. This little restaurant does get busy, and I can see why. I will definitely be back, the food is fantastic!

The Banana Thief!. I have never written a review for a restaurant before, however the dining experience at the Banana Leaf Malaysian Restaurant in Glasgow was so poor that I would not like others to have to suffer to the ills of such an experience.I have eaten twice at Banana Leaf on Glasgows Cambridge Street, the second experience being even worse than the first. Foolishly, I always believe in second chances, but in this case I really shouldnt have! The service, though pleasant, did not compensate for the low quality of the food and certainly not for the prices paid for it.On the first occasion I ordered a Clay Pot with Pork and Steamed Vegetables with a side of steamed rice, my friends who joined me ordered a Lamb Stir fry and a Beef Saut, respectively. In all three cases the meat dishes consisted of mostly fat, very little of which could be eaten, with an assortment of what appeared to be cheap frozen vegetables, which in all three cases were disguised with thick prebought sauces. During my second visit to the restaurant I ordered the Mussel Sir fry with Chilli and Lemongrass, it arrived with no more than a half a dozen mussels with the shells still in tact, a handful of carrots and some iceberg lettuce, once again being covered over with a thick sauce, which tasted like the jarred stuff you buy at a Chinese supermarket for 99p. Perhaps this is something new, but I am yet to come across a dish in any restaurant where iceberg lettuce is used to compliment a stir fry! All in all, I suppose I could have swallowed the experience if the quality of the food matched the prices, but the dishes ranged between 9.00 and 13.00 (rice not included) and for that I could have grilled two lovely steaks fresh from the butcher in the privacy of my own kitchen or dined at one of Glasgows many other lovely, higher-end restaurants. This is no less than theft and I warn others to keep their wallets in their pockets and to keep walking if they happen by this restaurant.
