Scallops from a dredged source. I was in on the weekend for my first visit and was disappointed that the scallops on the menu were from dredged sources. It would be good to see such a nice, popular fish restaurant getting its fish from sustainable sources.
Great tasty sea food in a cool little location. Great varied choice of specials. We had a good mix of these and all hit the mark. Squid ink paella was spot on. Good non invasive service even though they needed the table back by a set time as very popular on weekends. Very good addition to Glasgow food scene
Birthday treat?. Had a hugely mixed/ disappointing experience of this highly acclaimed establishment – -starters chosen were a special – salt and pepper squid which was under seasoned and extremely bland as a result. My son’s grilled langoustines were however a success. I chose crab as my main expecting a hot finger licking experience – what arrived was a sorry poorly dressed example – the brown meat in the shell was a lumpy tasteless mush and was not what i expecting – as dressed crab was not on the menu. My partner chose grilled sole with a caper sauce -which was just ok but the caper sauce was over salted. My son’s fish and chips was not the success as on previous visits with the batter verging on the soggy side. Service was pleasant but not exceptional – think they are taking the eye of the ball or had an off night. re the menu if you are serving crab let the customer know what it is you are giving him – dressed crab was not on the menu – but was what they were serving. Very Disappointed

Joke of a restaurant. I was really looking forward to going to Crabshakk. The tables are tiny, and the seats are so uncomfortable, my bum was still sore the next day. You are so packed in I couldn’t use my left arm to eat and could only use my right hand. The tables are so small we couldn’t actually fit all our plates of food on the table – what a joke! The food was really bad, the fish and chips (expensive at 10) was so soaked in grease I had to leave most of it. The others had a special of King scallops, squid tempura and mackerel – all equally disappointing and over priced. Overall it was pretentious and over priced, the service was wonderful but the food was really bad and they way you are squashed in is unbearable, you have more room eating on an airplane.
Can’t fault the food, very tasty. However the lack of it was the problem. The crab cakes, delicious but miniscule, coin size portions that are gone in a flash. The fish curry again lovely but let down again by portion size but it wasn’t until the lid was lifted on the mussels that we looked in disbelief!!!!! Never seen a smaller Pot of mussels in my life, smaller than your usual starter portion, however this was Crabshakk’s large? Atmosphere-great, service-great, food-a real let down.
