Very disappointing. Have visited on many occassions , however my recent visit was dreadful , you cannot sit at a table unless you are having food – I thought the Lab was a pub that sold grub , obviously tryin to make it a restaurant now and people who just want a drink are treated very badly . Asked for a french martini and got a brown liquid with froth on top – didn’t look like it was something you would want to put near your mouth never mind drink – asked what it was and was told the chambord and vokda are pre -mixed ???? Leads me to question if he is in fact using Chambord ? Used to be good place but after my very recent visit I won’t be back, my money is too good to be wasted in here ! The staff and management were very rude and unhelpful – when questioned whether it was a restaurant or bar I was told if I wasn’t eating I couldn’t sit at a table. There is too much competition near by with good service and tables and chairs for people who just want a drink – will the lab see their 11 th birthday ? I doubt it

Great atmosphere, great staff, nice customers, and is tucked away nicely where bad company cannot find. It has some great draught beer available (Erdinger, Budvar and Heineken) and of course it has Guinness too, which I’ve been told is the finest place to get the famous Irish stout in Glasgow.The Lab is a busy little heaven, but on Friday and Saturday’s you will struggle to get through the door it’s so busy. The food is good and the music is always great – nothing vulgar whatsoever.
Hated everything about it. . .. Yesterday I had the worst experience I have ever had eating out. This place was busy, so empty tables had ‘reserved for diners’ on them – fair enough. We found a table for four (which turned out to be the last available) and sat down. A stressed out waitress stormed up to us and aggressively said ‘Are you eating’ with her face looking like thunder. I told her we were and she returned and took our drinks order. In the meantime, we decided what we wanted to eat and awaited her return. It was then three other people entered the bar and couldn’t find a table for food. Another waitress looked straight at us and said to the potential diners ‘Well, if that lot are not eating Ill just move them for you’. I couldn’t believe how rude and aggressive the staff were. We ignored the comment and between us decided to quickly get the food and leave.Our original waitress then came and took our order. When my cutlery arrived the knife was dirty, when my food arrived it was cold and when my friend commented there was no rocket on the rocket, pesto chicken wrap (it was iceberg lettuce) noting was done about it.As you can imagine, when the bill came and we were asked if we enjoyed the meal we told the truth. When we got up to leave and picked up all the loose change from the bill (leaving no tip) the waitress came over and sarcastically said ‘Merry Christmas’ when we went out the door.I hated everything about this place and shall never be back.
