Mediocre. I went to grill on the corner last night. I thought the menu was unoriginal. The food was quite bland. I started with a very fatty mackerel pate with 2 tiny slices of squeaky cold toast….then I had steak and veg. The steak was really tough, so much so that I couldn’t cut it. I asked for a steak knife. I was given another identical blunt knife that couldn’t cut through the steak. It was mass produced, tasteless food……and it wasn’t that cheap either. You’d think with so many staff running around that they might have come up with something mildly interesting or inspirational.I won’t be going back
Not enough food for the money.. Went for lunch here last week. Lovely table outside, looking out onto the shopping centre. Probably as close as you can get to the hustle and bustle of outdoor eating in Scotland! Like being in a cafe/bar in the Med, but under cover of a glass roof! Princes Square is such a lovely place to be in general. My friend ordered duck and I ordered the chicken dish, which was nice, but apart from the actual poultry there was very little else on the plate. We were wating for some accompanying veg to appear on a little side dish!! Lovely place. Nice atmosphere, nice staff, but not enough food for the money. Once the mains arrived we decided to order two side dishes extra.
Sublime Steak. Was here last night for a birthday dinner for five – starter of chilli squid and noodles was very appetising but pretty nippy. Thai Fishcakes and Parsnip and Apple Soup starters were also winners. But the real triumph of the evening was the 6oz fillet (medium rare) perfectly cooked, pink in the middle – not too bloody, tenderly cut and succulent in the mouth! Rounded off with a tasty hash brown and tasty peppercorn sauce. Drinks were topped up on a regular basis and service waitresses were excellent!!
The food is great, and it is a bit on the expensive side but it does command exceptional and faultless quality, nice friendly service too.
