I love chicken, even better when it’s spicy, so Frangos seemed like a good option for me after a couple of beers. I’ve past the chicken joint a number of occasions and always wondered what it would be like, it certainly looks good from the outside with the bright lights and vibrant colours drawing people in like moths.Frangos serve up portuguese grilled chicken, which can be dressed in a wrap or bap – alternatively you can keep it simple and enjoy a naked full/half/quarter chicken. After much deliberation I settled on a chicken and cheese burger, served up medium hot. I took a seat and after a short while my burger was in hand and I was off on my merry way.I took the burger home safe in the knowledge that EdinBloggette wouldn’t want to share my spoils. With notebook in one hand and burger in the other I began my ‘research’.The chicken was well cooked and the piri piri sauce provided a nice flavour without being overpowering, although I’d be tempted to go hot next time. The chips aren’t going to go down in history, but they are streets ahead of KFC, also it’s a much healthier alternative to the rival down the road; and in our humble opinion a far tastier one.I’d happily go back to Frangos, there’s a lot of competition on Leith Walk for takeaways but this seems like a much healthier option. Also, on a Monday for 6.99 you can order a full chicken and chips and Tuesdays are two for one on burgers, if only I had somebody to share these deals with. edinbraw.com
