Good on paper, average on plate. I went here recently for a late dinner, ordering haddock and barley risotto and the haggis and clapshot for mains. Most disappointing haggis I’ve ever had. Bone fragment and rubbery sinews matched the weak spices experienced in my dish. My partners risotto was too chalky to warrant being called risotto, in my book. Service was ok for a slow evening nearing closing time. That’s not going to earn them another chance. Won’t be back.
The worst service I have ever received. I will never set foot back in this place after an encounter with the manager/owner a few months back. When pointing out, politely, an issue with the dessert, we were called a ‘problem table’. The manager/owner then stormed off telling us we didn’t know what we were talking about. We weren’t even asking for anything, merely pointing something out. Shocking and absolutely the worst service I’ve ever come across. Can’t even bring myself to mention the food.
Lovely relaxing lunch. Had a lovely relaxing lunch in Arisaig ‘people watching’ in the square and eating tasty, well-seasoned food. Delightfully spoiled for choice with both the a la carte and the pre-theatre menu – so very hard to choose just ONE starter and ONE main course. (Which necessitates, of course, a return visit to try something else!). This must be the ideal location for a rainy day in Glasgow as there is plenty of natural light in the Merchant Square and a nice atmosphere. Food was of high quality. Portions were substantial. Service was great. Definitely going back.
Food was Nice!!!. Food was very nice! They only had one vegetarian option but it was very tasty! The other food ordered (fish dishes) was also nice. Only thing negative was it seemed overstaffed – lots of staff standing around doing nothing, ready to pounce everytime you looked close to finishing your wine. Bit off-putting but food was really nice! Recommend a visit at least once.
Arisaig has now moved to Merchant Sq. In the Merchant city
Scottish Cuisine at its best!. Whether its Lunch or Dinner Arisaig certainly gets my vote. One small gripe is the sweet selection is limited but I guess there are not many Scottish sweets that can be choosen. Every meal i have had has been superb and I am sure yours will be too.
Food was okay but fairly predictable menu. I expected more from a restaurant showcasing Scottish cuisine.
