A very good quality lunch with fast efficient service- just what I was looking for on a rainy afternoon in Glasgow! I popped in after being soaked at George Square and got what I was looking for. Clean, warm and great value for money too.
It was cold and wet on Saturday night & after a drink my sister opted for Greek – we walked in & were lucky enough to get the last table, it was warm inside with only an occasional chill from the door opening.. Service was good – our waitress attentive & helpful. We started with tsatsiki and toasted pita – it was delicious with loads of garlic & very creamy. We were also given olives & fresh bread – all yum ! For main my husband had hamburgers, my sister had moussaka & I had pastitsio. They were all very tasty & nice sized portions and although I cannot comment on value for money (at SA exchange rate EVERYTHING is outrageous) my sister thought it was reasonable. We had baclava for dessert with very strong coffee and then headed back into the rain !!?
Returned for my birthday. As I stated before, I went back to Elia for my birthday on 26th August 2014 and as I expected it was great, food excellent and hot, service good although new waitress in training so cut her some slack we all need to learn. Please give it a go I love it.25 Aug, 2014Have you actually ever eaten in Greece??. I have been reading the reviews of this restaurant and quite frankly whilst all places have issues occasionally I cannot believe some of them to be correct. I was raised for part of my childhood in Cyprus as my Father was in the forces and to be honest I was a little dubious to say the least when My Hubby and I tried Elia on our Wedding anniversary as we had not long been in Glasgow to be totally honest I loved it. We have been back since and will be returning again tomorrow for my Birthday. We have had the Meze and can’t fault it other than it’s bloomin’ huge and not to be taken lightly. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however, so am I. I do struggle a bit as I don’t personally like beef which tends to be a high proportion of many Greek foods but I am more than happy with Lamb or Chicken as an alternative.I have never had a problem with the staff and we too have had the trainee but guess what, we all have to learn our jobs, cut them some slack. As for the owner I have always found him friendly and can safely say the only time we saw him get a little upset it was definitely because some idiot was trying for a free meal because his was apparently cold, yet we could see the steam coming off the plate and he did not complain for the best part of 40 mins after service. The owner simply asked him to leave, not an unreasonable response.
OK ish. Good Service, nice room, great location our food was average stifado not very tender and souvlakia was luke warm
Was at Elia for the first time today, definitely wont be the last. Food was fresh and very tasty, service was excellent, prices were very good and the portion sizes were generous and represented great value for money….cant wait to go back again! 10/10
Fantastic Experience!. My husband, our friend and I were in Glasgow from Australia and craving some good authentic greek food. We thankfully ended up at Elia Greek Restaurant where we met the wonderful owner George and his helpful waiter son Steve! Not only was the service fantastic but the food was the BEST greek food we have had – the closest to home made as you’ll ever get! The portions were so generous, very reasonably priced, fantastic atmosphere and such friendly people! We wish the restuarant was here in Australia! Thankyou so much guys, it was a wonderful meal!
Nice food, they mixed up the orders though it was really calm that day….the onion in te salad was overpowering the main course….
