Lunch in the Sun. Made the most of the good weather and enjoyed an open air lunch at this family run restaurant. It’s a great location in the Merchant City and there is plenty of space to relax. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was a delight. The lasagne was clearly freshly made, rich and creamy and was accompanied by lovely crusty bread. Bearing in mind the location and quality of food, it was also amazing value for money. My only minus point was the metal tables which dazzled in the sunlight and didn’t match the classy surroundings. Enjoyable and recommended.
As a regular, i sense something fishy….. I have been attending this restaurant for years, from the days of Rocco to the hand over to his son Federico. i have also dined during the period that a couple of these recent odd negative reviews have emerged. All i can say is that Piazza Italia’s high standards were maintained during the recent heatwave that populates their huge outside seating area in the Italian Centre, i did see waiting times creep up a little but it is understandable given the restaurant’s capacity. The staff are attentive and the food is authentic (no dodgy chain restaurant burgers in here), you are made to feel completely welcome and the best part is the bill…..unbeatable value!
Awful Service. My husband and I attended this restaurant last Saturday night. We received our starter but after waiting a further hour we still had not received our main course. I complained to the manager twice who told me to ‘hold on’ but never came back. I then approached the waitress at the front desk and told her we were leaving due to bad service and her reply was ‘that’s fine’. I think this restaurant think they no longer need to try any more after their good Tam Cowan review.
A Hidden Gem.. Me and my wife have only started eating out in glasgow in the last couple of months. We stumbled onto the most beautiful part of glasgow down in merchant city. As we entered we were greeted by the most friendly staff who really did go above and beyond with service. They had a wonderful Lunch menu for just over a fiver, and the quality for the price was unreal. I shall most defiantly return, most likely as a work night out at christmas as i saw they have a fabulous christmas menu already tiggling my taste buds. A true italian restaurant with true italian food.
Awful. The worst food I’ve had in ages. Soggy bland pizza, burnt dry stale garlic bread. Avoid.
Very very dissapointing! Rude and ill tempered waitress, 1 hour & 10 min between starter & main, ingredients missing from some of meals!!! No appology only arrogance and excuses from manager. Will NEVER go back.
Totally crap service and food! upon entering we were told we had 2 hours to get fed and watered, (we didnt book) Starter was a shared meat platter with foccacia which was really a garlic pizza. Main course, was pizza for me (good stonebake) my partner had risotto? Which was boiled rice with peas and nuts! We have only ever refused a meal once and that was in a Hard Rock Cafe because the menu was wrong. Dont go here, book early and go to a real Italian restaurant.
