I come here for dinner last night and ate in the restaurant part; I’m guessing you can also eat outside on the tables in the lane during the day. The food was nice. The fish (cod) was well cooked and the batter was very light and crispy which was great. The was also a large serving of chips too. Overall a good place to come for traditional fish and chips.
Terrible service, amateur hour. My partner is a vegetarian who eat’s fish so I called this restaurant to check whether or not they used lard or similar when frying.I was not convinced as the girl who answered had to check with someone else. The answer was yes it was suitable for vegetarians.I went on to send an email, the picture’s are attached. It went from being suitable for vegetarians but when trying to get a definite confirmation it transpires that meat is used in the rapeseed oil fryer also.In this day and age when people have many dietary requirements whether it be gluten free, kosher or halal, staff should really have these answers at the tip of their tongue.I went on to reply to the last email simply so confirm that the restaurant was in fact not suitable for vegetarians but I have not had a reply….
First Class Fish. I did indeed go doon the lane and then up a very dodgy looking staircase and was pleasantly surprised. The dining area is nicely decorated if a bit dark and the kitchen area can be seen through the large serving hatch. I had the fish tea deal which consisted of a huge thick fillet of creamy white coley and a mountain of perfectly cooked chips. At only 6:75 including bread and butter and a hot drink it was excellent value for money. it’s a busy place and deservedly so.
Look no further for great fish&chips!. I was in Glasgow with a German colleague who wanted to experience a fish & chips supper…so here we went, and it was fabulous! At first, you think you’re entering a run down, shabby place, as it is in a dead end lane with less than glamourous building facades, but once you get up the stairs and enter the place you’re in for a surprise! Modern, wood and raw brick interiors, plenty of steel tubing in the air, and smooth, soft lights (lots of tealights and coloured spots on the walls!) with a background of low jazz music, ideal also for those who like to have a meal and a chat without having to shout over the music. The fish was perfect, not at all greasy and well moist, chips were chunky and cut to perfection, and the price is just right. My colleague was impressed and managed to finish it just about, as the portions are large. I noticed also a vegetarian option for those who are not into fish, which is good. Not my last visit to this place, for sure!
Went along with 5 friends on 24sept we all really enjoyed our meals no complaints im going back today with my wife
Delicious food, served in a quirky way. Fish is very fresh, cooked to order & the chips are spot on.
Best service. We had a good meal here. The menu is short and to the point. The pricing is spot on. The food is good – big portions. The most outstanding thing for me was the service. The young women that took our order was fantastic, a real asset to the place.
