Any place which judges it’s clientele is doomed…we walked in a group of 7 and even before we could ask for a table we were informed that we’d need to order a main course each before we were even seated or for that matter offered seats. For the location it’s located no wonder it’s empty. Maybe they themselves know their food sucks.
Our visit to the restaurant ended before it really began. We were a group of seven and the restaurant was almost completely empty at peak lunch time. And yet we were told (I could almost see a finger wagging at me!!) that we MUST order seven main course dishes. We might probably have ordered more than seven main course dishes since we were quite hungry, but the attitude sucked. And being so picky about number of dishes was quite rich for a restaurant which had hardly any customers. We were more than happy to escape from this rude place into more friendly restaurants which didn’t impose any restrictions on the number of dishes we should order.
Not a place I would have chosen as it sits right on the Royal Mile and tourist trap heaven. Gutted to find our regular curry house closed, we wandered around this part of the new town looking for something and so ended up here. To be honest the only thing that drew us inside was the fact that there were no other customers inside and we were starving. We got a seat by the window and opted for the budget menu. Our regular curry nights consist of two Korma curries, naan bread, two bottles of Cobra each and a right girlie chat for a couple of hours. Indeed we got this here. The budget menu was a starter and a main for 13.95. Starters : onion bhajis and poppadoms.Mains : we stuck with the kormas and naan bread.Onion bhajis were a little bland but overly spiced. That maybe doesnt make sense but the curry tasted like it hadnt been cooked through and was just a hot taste, definitly no layering of tastes and flavours here. The korma was bright almost neon yellow, didnt taste of much. The naan bread was fine. The cobras were super expensive which pushed our meal to almost 30 per person! there went the budget girlie night out.Saying this, this service was good; efficient and friendly. After 15 minutes of us having the place to ourselves the restaurant filled up. Maybe passers by just had to see someone sitting eating before them themselves came in. This place is okay but it definitely wont become our new girlie meet-up curry spot! tartanspoon.co.uk
On entering there was a great welcome however they were very quick to try to move us on! It was very curt and brisk after that and the food was very ordinary. They charged us for the poppadums and a hefty service charge at the end.
