Ordered food at home since was craving Indian food. The dishes are good and decent in quantity. The price per the Edinburgh standard is okay. The taste was the dishes were good and worth it. Would love to visit the restaurant and try more of the dishes. Although the Paneer tikka was bland and there was no chutney provided by the restaurant! Cheers!

My fiance and I visited during a shirt trip to Edinburgh and we were impressed with Ginger. We had poppadoms to start with onions and pickle tray – excellent! Pickle tray was great and the poppadoms still warm. For a main, I had the Poleko Bhale Khukhura – a Nepalese chicken dish, I would highly recommend. My partner had the Chicken Korma, which she enjoyed. All sides (pilau rice, chips and peshwari naan) were fresh and hot.I would definitely recommend Ginger and will certainly visit again if I’m in Edinburgh.

This place is delicious and underrated! Stumbled across it one night and went back another time it was so good. Really wonderful Indian and Nepalese food, and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The place was pretty quiet when I was there which is a shame, the food here is so yummy, this place should be run off their feet! Do yourself a favour and go here!

Was lucky enough to come across Ginger late one night, and was really not disappointed. Easily the best curry I have had in Edinburgh and such great service. I don’t know what happened on the bad reviewers night but the (what appeared to be husband and wife) hosts were excellent and even gave us 20% off vouchers for our next visit! The curries were flavoursome, and the naans were actually perfect. Looking forward to going back!

Situated in the wee busy part of student central near the University’s Old College, this restaurant serves up Nepalese and Indian fare.Always on the look out for a bargain, we decided to have the Pre-Theatre menu which was 2 courses for 9.95. I never have high expectations for food that costs this cheap but sometimes you find a gem and this was what I was hoping for. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be.I love a curry. I really love the subtle spices of a curry but don’t like the heat, so I always go for the milder option. I started off with the Chicken Tikka. This was 3 large pieces of chicken, removed from the skewer and so tough I only managed one bite from the first piece. A little disappointing. My friend ate the vegetable pakoras. She said they were nice. I think the looked a little greasy.Main courses I ordered the Chicken Korma with rice and my friend had the Lamb Karai with naan bread.Rice was fine. Chicken Korma was just raw spices, it lacked the creaminess and smoothness that I have tasted in other Kormas. It was ok.The Lamb Karai tasted good but too curry hot for me. The one really great dish here was the Naan Bread. Massive, tasty and well cooked. The service was a little lacking, abrupt and abrasive at times although by the end of night she did see us off with a smile (not sure if that was just because we were leaving!).This place is ok. Food mediocre. Ambience very little. Service not great. tartanspoon.co.uk
