So good to find such a fabulous place to eat in Edinburgh that gives a warm welcome to dogs. Very spacious and chilled with a lovely log fire, and lots of logs for it! Menu extensive and varied, good for kids, adults, vegetarians and meat lovers. Food was lovely and plenty of it. Good value for money. Will definitely visit again.
We didn’t want to queue over an hour at Ting Thai Caravan and were on our way somewhere else when we bumped into OX184. The decor and atmosphere with the wood fire is cosy and sophisticated, and the service of the staff was wonderful. Unfortunately, the food was a bit of a let down. My lamb baby back ribs were overwhelmed with a spice rub that didn’t quite hit the mark, and the chips were sadly tasteless with not a scrap of salt. My partner’s lamb steak was mostly well cooked, except for being a bit too raw near the bone, but again was flavourless despite the promising butter sauce on top. I think OX184 definitely has promise – the Edinburgh gin and elderflower tonic I had was sensational – but the menu needs some tweaks to really make it work. longingforlunch.wordpress.com
