LOVE Just an amazing place to chill with friends and good food! I have tons of happy memories with friends at Teviot! There nachos in unbeatable. Its been 5 years! I am back to India after finishing my studies at Uni. I still tell my friends about this chilled out place! 🙂
Good lord, these beef chili nachos with a shitload of jalapeos, lovely guac, an overload of melted cheese and sour cream and that spicy salsa were the nachos of my entire life! The library burger with the 6 oz patty and hand cut homey chips is pretty darn good too. I will definitely recommend this place! :’)
The nachos are University famous at Teviot and for a reason. For 3.50 (if you’re a student) that amount of nachos and their generous heaping of cheese, salsa, guacamole and sour cream is a clean steal. The burgers are also pretty good and they often have interesting things on their changing menu. Great place for a nice lunch.
As a student of Edinburgh University, you’re bound to have visited Teviot at some point. Most of the functions and events through the University will be held in the building or students will arrange to meet here. There are 2 areas where you can buy food and drink, the Library Bar is where my friends and I frequent most. You don’t need to be a student to be allowed in, but you do get a discount if you’re a student! The drinks are a good price and their food is good, given the stereotype of University food being mediocre, the Library Bar doesn’t deserve this ideal. Food are freshly made and you can expect the same quality of service and food as you would from a restaurant. The aptly named bar is surrounded by bookshelves with glass panels displaying various aged, leather bound books. It’s a very beautiful part of the building and definitely fits the purpose of catering mostly for students. diyshopaholic.com
The library cafe is my favourite – have eaten brunch and dinner and participated in a bar quiz all in the same weekend (during my three day visit to Edinburgh). Cheap as it is in the student union, good food, cute interior as it is one of the oldest student unions (?)
