If you are looking for great beers and drinks this is the place to go. All drinks are very well priced and there is a great choice. The staff are very friendly and helpful the bar is clean and spacious. They also serve food which is also excellent and well priced with a varied menu. There is always a good atmosphere here which only adds to the experience. Well worth checking out if in Edinburgh.

A traditional looking bar in the centre of Edinburgh, located just off the Royal Mile and the Bridges, The Advocate is exactly that – traditional.Having visited with my mother, the bar has a decent range of drinks and plays on it’s unembellished looks, it certainly doesn’t inspire a belief that it can pull off the spectacular. Despite this it is a hardy bar, popular with Edinburgh City Council officials who have offices further up the Royal Mile.Being owned by Belhaven doesn’t help it’s cause to stand out from the rest. Brewery owned bars tend to flag in the individuality stakes. It also doesn’t stand out for quality of food, with the standard expected to be tolerable, which is what the Advocate serves up.By no means a bad bar, but not a very good one either.
