The Hive was my first nightclub, when I came to Edinburgh. The best part about the club is that they provide free entries sometimes for university students. Due to this reason the club is overcrowded, as the place isn’t huge either. They provide very cheap drinks, quite a few in 1, might be a reason for lot of spilled liqour. The place has normal ambience overall. Their themes change according to the day and the music too which is the reason I am giving a 2.5.

No air conditioning, no toilet roll most of the time, and a stink that just seemingly will never go away no matter how hard the staff scrub the place down.Why does it get more than 1? Because despite the many faults that Hive has, it does have upsides. The music is varied throughout the week and has an emphasis on music that isn’t in the charts, other than on Wednesday and Saturday. It’s not often you can walk into a nightclub at 10 on a Friday night and hear Private Eye by Alkaline Trio being blared through the speakers.The drinks are cheap, so are of poor quality, but that’s to be expected when you pay 1 for a drink.
