I’ve seen this space morph into many restaurants/bars over the years so delighted to see that this spot is working for Whistlestop Barber Shop. They certainly dont show any signs of closing. We choose to eat early and I had been swithering (or drooling not quite sure) all day on whether to choose the baby back ribs or one of their glorius burgers that they are always showing off on social media. Our waitress was ever so patient with us coming back to the table several times before we even glanced at the menu. I opted for the ribs and my friend went in for the burger. (I’ll be back for a burger … and the ribs too!).On arrival at our table, the food smelt of sticky bbq smoky goodness and it looked fantastic. My friend ate the Big Bad Buffalo Burger which is chicken breast, pulled buffalo chicken and ranch coleslaw with sweet potato fries. The chicken burger was soft and succulent with excellent crunch on the outside. The slaw wasn’t smothered in mayo. Sweet Potato Fries were outstanding. As I mentioned I had the Baby Back Ribs coated in Smoked Cherry Cola. There were another two marinades to choose from – Root Beer BBQ or Dr Chilli Pepper. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone. Sweet from the Cherry Cola and lovely little gnarly well cooked almost burnt bits at the ends. Delicious. I had this with the Beer Cheese and Bacon Fries. I preferred the sweet potato fries and my friend preferred these ones! We washed these plates of food down with a couple of pints of beer. Gutted I never managed an alcoholic milkshake but we were so full up. I think for me its either food or the milkshake.Great place. Good service. tartanspoon.co.uk

food and service bot absolutely amazing, followed by some of the best blended drinks I’ve ever tasted, the staff were even able to put up with my horrible chat and strange requests for hours as me and my friends drank here. (I’m picky with what goes into my drink.)Food is fresh and filling, not a single thing left on the plates once we were done( even tho the portions were huge)Big up simon for the recommendations.

Came here with a deal voucher so had limited choice but enjoyed my visit. The burger was good, sweet potato fries very tasty and cocktails delicious! The interior was trendy and staff welcoming. I would definitely like to return to try more from the menu. myfoodwishlist.co.uk

Visited the whistle stop on Friday evening at around 8,rang in advance to book a table, arrived and the table wasn’t ready or even put in the system…we were then given a table right near the bar where it was noisy and really busy. The food itself was really good for the price,a burger will only cost you 8.50….can’t complain at that.Apart from the fact that it was a Friday night there was nothing wrong with the venue or food. The bow stairs section of the bar is set out like a barbers shop which I actually believe is still used as a barber shop sometimes.I would come back anytime day off the week….except Friday night.

My business partner and I went here not too long ago after hearing it was a new place in town catering to American style food and more important southern food. Being both from the States & the South we were super excited to try it out because if we liked it we would be happy to recommend somewhere to our American clientele. We order as starters tater tots and fried green tomatoes. What we got was unrecognizable. With the tater tots it gives it away what they are made of in the name! Potatoes ! These were white dough balls with haggis crumbled over the top served with a nasty sour dip. The fried green tomatoes were fried but barely and in the wrong batter entirely! I asked for some sauces and the waitress disappeared for over 15 mins until I eventually had to ask the bar man. So starters were a fail. On to the mains- I ordered a crayfish salad and my partner the Rueben. My salad came and was just crayfish, some leaves, red peppers, and sour dressing. It was so spicy though it was uneatable. The Reuben was even more of a disaster-first it was served COLD! This is always a hot sandwich second served on nasty white Scottish bread and third it had cheddar cheese. It was awful. We had gone in hungry but were unable to finish anything we were served. The bill would have been easily 45 but I called the manager over to explain how we were unhappy and he graciously took all food off our bill. They have obviously spent a lot of money renovating, decorating, and staffing but not even doing simple research to get the food right. Needless to say we will NEVER go here again or recommend.

Great Saturday night with friends. Lively atmosphere and good music from their house DJ. Food was you would expect in a American themed place. Staff were very good, friendly and attentive. Tried the deadly dozen chicken wing challenge, got through 6 of 12 before I was defeated. Word of advice don’t stop to lick the sause from your fingers and good luck as its very very hot.
