It may seem keen giving a soup place a 5/5 but what they do, they do it so so well! Union of Genius came to our office building last week to feed the masses and they did not disappoint. I had sweet potato, coconut and tamarind soup, so thick and filling with a little spice. It was served with a good helping of fresh onion bread which was so good. The lady serving said she set up Union of Genius because she was fed up of being served mediocre watery soup and she has certainly put the world to rights! Will be heading back here when I need a winter warmer!
What a great find! An unsuspecting green frontage leads you into a plethora of taste sensations served in bowls. Let’s face it – Edinburgh rarely gets hot enough to turn your nose up at soup, but it does, they also put on a range of gazpacho. Seven peeps make up the union and they have a truck that parks by the university as well as the shop. Check them out. The food and staff are lovely.

Ultimate Comfort Food. On a cold wet autumn day, what better than some hot spicy soup and crusty bread ? As soon as you open the door you are hit by the aroma and your tastebuds are further tormented as you scan down the menu board. It’s a cosy little place and if you are lucky enough to find a seat and start to eat, you really don’t want to leave. Needless to say, my harira, tomato and red pepper soup was sublime and I’m seriously hooked !! PS: if you have a favourite soup you can request it. I’m looking forward to their version of mulligatawny !!
