Great food, beer and whiskey 🙂 and the cherry in top the awesome live music.Definitely the place to visit in Edinburgh specially if you’re around for the Fringe
Situated right in the middle of Royal Mile this is one of the best night places to be at in Edinburgh. The bar starts its live music every night at around 9PM and is a perfect place to sip your scotch or grab a beer along with food, by the company of some wonderful music. The staff is polite and is highly efficient.I was served my food within minutes and never during my stay at the restaurant could I see an empty table. People just kept coming and coming and it was a great meal and time for me.
I had a lovely chicken club sandwich that was a big serving for a lunch special, I was very satisfied. Wonderfully cooked chicken breast and bacon with a good amount of sauce as well. Chips and salad were great as well, enjoyed the meal as a whole.
Its a nice cozy traditional pub in old town to enjoy a couple of drinks. The staff is cool and the service is good .They have a live band also. Nice place to visit if u are staying at the Royal mile.. Its right opposite to Radisson blu royal mile.
We were in the old town looking for a traditional pub to eat some launch and went by Whisky. On the terrace tables people were drinking and eating so we thought it would be a good place. The inside room was amazing, lots of pictures on the wall with that old pub look, exactly what we’re looking for.We read the menu and decided to go with the dishes of the day: fish and chips (had to try it) and haggis neeps and tatties (we didn’t even know what it was :).The Fish and chips were good, not to much oilly and with a nice filet of cod.The haggis neeps and tatties were the surprise, i was afraid to eat it but the flavor was spot on, very good indeed.Even though the house specialties were whiskey we had a pint of the house beer and some cider. The service was always very nice and very fast.If you want a traditional pub in the heart of Edinburgh this is a great choice! Moreover at night they even have live music.
Great Food. My husband and I enjoyed an evening in the Whiski Bar in early May, 2015. I had the Sausage and Mash with Red Onion Gravy (to die for) and my husband had the Fish and Mash with Peas. I asked for extra gravy and to my surprise, the waiter brought out a good portion. It was so good I asked if the chef would share his recipe…to my surprise, he did; but no measurements…I’ve looked all over for a similar recipe and cannot find one. Chef: Please share the amounts needed to serve 4. I know this is asking a lot, but I don’t know when or if I will be back in Edinburgh to enjoy your wonderful Sausage and Mash. I would love to make it for my husband and a couple of friends.
Disappointing. AVOID. I had heard good reviews of this restaurant but had always struggled to get a table. I finally managed to get one and was looking forward to my meal. Unfortunately this was not be. The service was good but looking around, the team appeared to have forgotten what impact a smile can have, as I failed to spot a single one in over an hour and a half. My first choice of whisky was unavailable so the aperitif was given a miss. After having our drinks delivered the food was taken. The portions were a bit on the shy side and presentation a bit pretentious. You can get away with that if the quality is there but sadly it failed to achieve on that front. Basically its overpriced pud grub titivated to impress or decieve depending on your viewpoint. All in all not somewhere that I would return to or recommend. I can only imagine it survives on tourist traffic due to its location as no local could surely frequent it.
