As part of the endless cycle of me never paying attention to solidly good advice, it was bordering on three years since someone told me that I should visit Caf Cassis because it was really rather good. Better late than never, I suppose.Today was a glorious day with sunshine dominant. Accordingly, I found the place a little quiet as sun-worshippers had chosen to soak in the sunshine. Cassis does have a garden area out back, to cater for sunny days.with bistro classics to the fore. I settled upon the soup of the day, roasted root vegetables with garlic, then took a recommendation from the effusively cheery waiter, who thought the Toulouse sausage would be his preferred choice. The soup arrived very promptly served with a little basket of ciabatta bread. It proved a very good soup packing good carrot and parsnip flavour. It had a nicely hearty texture. I was pleased with it.The sausage was accompanied by both puy lentils and mash, which was potentially overkill, but the portions of both were well judged so that the dish was filling but not overpoweringly so. The sausage packed tonnes of flavour, so I was content that this was indeed a very good recommendation. So overall, I must improve my paying attention skills and act on suggestions more quickly as I was very impressed with Caf Cassis and would definitely recommend it for a visit. I look forward to coming again in the evening, as I liked the look of their daily changing specials board, so would be keen to try some more of their excellent cooking.ScoresBlythe scores Caf Cassis4/5 for food3.5/5 for presentation4/5 for service4/5 for settinggiving an overall 15.5/20I ate: roasted root vegetable and garlic soup; Toulouse sausage with lentils and mashI drank: water, espressoI wore: pinstripesTotal bill: 11.70 lunchquest.co.uk

Cafe Cassis. Wonderful restaurant for fish and meat lovers alike–all cooked to perfection! Very good seating inside the restaurant and in the garden area, where we sat having a leisurely meal, drinking wine in the glorious sunshine! Staff are very friendly and the ouside seating area is family friendly. A return visit is guaranteed!
