Absolutely love Clerk’s Bar. Good selection of beers and ales, lovely freshly made cocktails. Nachos are some of the best I’ve had. Also had the pulled pork burger whilst the OH went for half a chicken and ribs. Again all very good. Especially love the selection of sauces on the table. Hot sauce is amazing!!

My mother is American, and our brief stint living in Maine is colored in my memory by lobster and blueberries. So I rarely pass up opportunities to dine on dishes inspired by the great U.S.A. Clerk’s is one such joint, promising food that’s cooked ‘low and slow’, just the way I like it.It so happens that s.o. and I were having night time cravings, so we popped across the road to try CB out. We shared a platter of 1/2 rack of ribs, 1/2 smoked chicken and pulled pork, with chips and coleslaw on the side. The coleslaw, they admit when you order, is ‘pickled’. In fact, it’s much more akin to sauerkraut if you ask me, which is great, because I love love love sauerkraut. The meat was pretty tasty, I like the chicken the best and s.o. goes in for the ribs. Both of us found the pulled pork to be distinctly average, the chips also. Finally, though neither of us are dessert lovers, no night time feast would be complete without a large helping of sugar. So a banana split it was, which was just that. No more no less.Overall, the brevity of this review says it all. Clerk’s Bar does what it does well, which is swell, but that is all. gastronomicum.blogspot.com

I think Clerk’s Bar has a really great atmosphere and therefore somewhere great to just hang out with your friends for a drink and some food. I’ve been twice, once whilst catching up with some old friends and the second time when I was meeting my new flatmates for the first time. Both myself and the people I was with really enjoyed our food! The food sort of appeals to the burger trend that seems to be going on right now and I’m not complaining! They also have a lot of slow cooked food too. Their pulled pork sandwiches are amazing. It can get really busy so I’d recommend booking. waterpainteddreams.com

After sitting empty for years I was happy to see this site transformed into a classy new bar. And it’s very pretty. An exciting range of condiments litter the place, good for augmenting your edibles. The food isn’t anything spectacular, more like high class pub fare, but it does the job and is quite affordable.Drinks-wise this is very much catering to the current thrust of exotic beers, so if that’s your thing you should definitely give it a try. There’s a cozy downstairs area that can be booked, always a nice option for parties etc. However, for food or drink it’s not the most thrilling visit if you’re needing gluten free things. facebook.com

Clerk’s Bar is one of the great newer places in town that I’ve enjoyed this summer. They have delicious slow-cooked. On my first visit I came with a few friends – we all shared a rack of ribs, pulled pork, an amazing slow-cooked chicken, corn, onion rings, and fries along with some of Clerk’s great craft beer on tap. The slow-cooked meat couldn’t be better and really stood out – it’s my top meat-fest location in town and they also have great beers and great prices. Because I had a great time on my first visit to Clerk’s Bar, I decided to host a travel blogger event there early in the summer, and it was fantastic. The Clerk’s Bar staff saw that everything ran smoothly and they also treated each of us to a flight of their beers – either from their craft or cask beer ranges. It was a tough decision since all of their beers are so good. It was a memorable event and really enjoy going back to Clerk’s Bar, too. edinburghtraveller.com

I Loved this place!! Despite mumping and moaning to my better half about how far away from town this establishment was, (it wasn’t, I was hungry and it was 7pm on a Friday evening) but I would definitely say take the bus instead of walking from town if you are heading there from that direction. I was pleasantly surpirsed when we arrived, especially after standing in the street for 10 minutes determined to help the cat I could hear crying (it was actually inside a flat). It has clearly had a make-over recently as it was very clean and bright and airy and still had that ‘newly decorated’ smell about it. We were a table of around 15 and were seated in a hidden downstairs section which had plenty of room to accomodate us and other tables. The menu was quite small, but everything they offered looked delicious. With most of them men taking on the sharing platter for 2 (to eat individually) I decided on the pulled pork buritto as when I was in Melbourne these became a favourite of mine! I have to say I was not left dissapointed! The buritto was so good , I practically inhaled it and although initially i thought i would never finish it, I did! For 6.00 it was definitely worth the money and I will definitely be going back with friends to eat here again. I have given this establishment a 4 as it isn’t ‘fine dining’ but it definitely exceeded my expectations!
