This unassuming busy bakery on Newington road has won a pieful of awards and it’s easy to see why. I sampled their Scotch pie which was just right; a crisp outer shell protecting the joyously softer filling within, followed by an almost dangerously sweet Viennese cream jam mountain of delight. Sadly I couldn’t wait to take a bite of this, hence the somewhat ‘incomplete’ photograph. The food filled me to the brim and spurred me on in my daily grind, and the friendly chatter of the staff and the owner cheered me up no end as the skies turned grey. A must-visit on any trip to the capital.
