I have wanted to try Rotato for ages but I have only just gotten round to it! I had heard a lot about it from friends who went to Edinburgh uni, but it’s only open Monday to Friday. I tried previously to snap up a baked potato but they were all gone and it was going to be a while until the next batch were ready. On another rare weekday off this week, we tried again and this time we were successful!I decided to go for the Aussie Mongrel which consists of chili, coleslaw, cheddar and sour cream. The potato itself is a good size, but I thought the potato to toppings ratio was ideal. I did feel that coleslaw and sour cream weren’t both needed, so I would probably opt to leave off the sour cream next time. There are about 6 named potatoes to choose from but you can also make your own from the toppings they have. As well as being a big portion, the potatoes are soft and fluffy in the middle, but with a nice crisp skin. It’s very popular and there aren’t a lot of seats so be prepared to take away. The oven also broke just after we purchased our potatoes so many customers missed out. Although I would go back as I enjoyed my lunch, it’s not close enough to travel to when I couldn’t feel certain there would be potatoes available!
