I am back. And it’s because I need to write a bad review 🙁 We initially wanted to go to Caravan, but it was packed and queues of over 10 ppl. I guess for good reasons and my mistake to leave. We decided to try some Korean and went pass Kim’s with had queues again. So we ended up here at Sodaeng.Walked in and asked for a table for 3. We clearly saw there was 2 tables for 2 being pulled apart. The waiter had the guts to say we don’t have any tables. This was 7:30 on Saturday FYI. We asked whether it was reserved but nope, it wasn’t. We asked him whether the tables could be joined up (the tables was next to each other). His reply.. then it’s a table for 4. OMFG!So we settled for a table for 2 but seats for 3. Clearly they expected more customers and wanted to make as much money / covers as possible. I’ll get back to this point later, let’s get on with some food review. We wanted to order the ‘Sam Gae Tang’ but it was sold out. So we just picked something… really couldn’t be axxed now… I can only remember the chicken with rice cake as it was the only dish remotely ok. The other 2 dishes was bland and had no taste of Korea. I have a number of south Korean friends and been to Korean restaurants in Asia and London. We actually ended up using the sauce from the chicken and rice cake to favour the other 2 dishes… haha.. this sauce I can taste the sesame oil at least. Nothing more to add here. The chicken and rice cake dish is the photo with the tea pot, if you really want to try. But going back to my point earlier. The spare table next to us was empty for the rest of the evening we were there… bad evening in total.

Not sure why this place has such a low rating. I found the food to be quite good. I had the bulgogi bokum bap and the dak bulgogi with a side of kimchi. Both dishes were well spiced and cooked, although a bit sweeter than is traditional. The kimchi is made fresh in house and I usually prefer a kimchi that has aged a bit more. I lived in Seoul for a few months and really loved the atmosphere they had going in the shop. Would definitely come back.

Happy to open a new Korean restaurant in my area.. I just had a delicious meal of kimchi jjigae, and a saewoo bokum bab. Everything was perfect; delicious food, service and atmosphere. I’ll be back for trying other food. Yeh!

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant twice. Once with a friend and once with my father, and both times the food, service and general atmosphere was fantastic! The food is delicious but slightly altered from the traditional and slightly westernised (obviously to accommodate for the majority) but I’d still strongly recommend it.If you’d like a new experience (or are an avid Korean food aficionado) it is required dining whilst you are in Edinburgh!

Worst Korean Restaurant Ever!!!!Especially, soup with sea food is the worst dish I have ever had in my student life in Edinburgh.
