Lancers is our go-to place for Indian take-out. The veggie dishes are full of actual vegetables, nicely spiced. Our favorite dishes include the okra, the aubergine, and the saag paneer. Spinach with butternut squash is also a good one. The mixed vegetable dishes are a little less exciting but still decent. The naan is fresh and especially tasty if you can get it home and eat it while it’s still hot (or just eat it at the restaurant). I’ve dined in the restaurant once – it’s fine, but has that awkward overly-formal white-tablecloth feel that Indian restaurants in Europe sometimes have. I’d rather be sitting on my sofa. zurika.com
Very average Indian. Ate here recentlyand was very disappointed. It reminded me of the curries I was obliged to eat when I was a student in Glasgow – pretty dire! And a more unatmospheric place would be hard to imagine. I suppose it gets away with it because it’s the only Indian in Stockbridge but my advice would be to avoid.

Extensive Menu and Great Service. Tucked away on Hamilton Streen in Stockbridge, Lancers Brasserie cooks up a delicious indian meal in comfortable surroundings. The menu is very extensice and caters to both a meat eating and vegetarian clientel. The service is friendly and attentive without being overbearing and I have never been dissappointed with a single dish. There is something on the menu for all tastes from very mild to collar loosening hot. I would recommend it as well for larger groups, just ensure you call ahead and book as it is usually busy!
Excellent food and service. This is my favourite Indian restaurant in Edinburgh – it does everything very well and the staff are very attentive and friendly
