I came here with a group of 6. We have booked a private area in the back. We ordered some Prosecco and couple bottles of wine. Yes, it was a boozy evening indeed! We decided to share some starters. We had an Italian sausage and bean stew which I normally wouldn’t order but it was really tasty so I was happy I tried it. We also had a roast duck salad which was very nice and fresh, octopus salad, fried squid and some artichokes. I enjoyed it all! We also shared the mains. I tried potato pizza with red onions which I’ve never had before and I wouldn’t say I would have it again. I prefer to have some kind of meat on my pizza and a lot of cheese. So it was good to try it but not really my kind of pizza. I also tried the ravioli and carbonara and I must say the pasta was one of the best one I’ve tried in my life! Overall, a lovely cosy restaurant slightly hidden away in Stockbridge. It has a very intimate atmosphere and it’s perfect for a date night. Not very big so book in advance!

Never more!. My order arrived almost one hour after, all the food really cold and the worst taste and food I could eat in my life….really awfull….Never more will order this company.I feel cheated and all the food went directly to the dustbin. One of the worst experience in my life.

We went to veritas on a busy Saturday evening and loved the atmosphere. Although they were full, the staff were attentive, friendly and helpful (and offered suggestions for my vegetarian diet). We opted for one of the home made cheesecakes for desert, delicious, highly recommended. This is definitely somewhere I’d bring my friends back to, and also a place I could bring my older parents as well

Very sadly I’m having to add to this review as I went to Veritas last night and the experience was not the same as the first time I went.I took my daughter and a friend and I have to say the food wasn’t good at all. My daughter had tempura soft shelled crabs and her friend had tempura cheese and vegetables – the batter was thick, soggy and greasy. I had smoked fish, which was nothing special. For main courses my daughter had ravioli, her friend had penne pasta with tomato sauce and I had prawns. The pasta on the ravioli was far too thick, the penne pasta was very ordinary and my prawns wererubbery. The meal (including two bottles of wine) came to over 90.00 which would have been great value had the food been up to the standard I’d had at my last visit, but it really wasn’t and judging from my latest visit I really wouldn’t recommend this restaurant at all.PREVIOUS REVIEWThe warm welcome to this restaurant begins even before you walk through the door – the steps are decorated with candles and hurricane lamps, bringing a feeling of cheer and bonhomie to what, in my case, was a very cold evening. We were ushered through to the private dining room at the rear of the restaurant, which was cosy without being cramped. We had a specially prepared tasting menu with fried sage leaves, polenta crostini with liver and bruschetta with hot salami paste as a starter. The meaty texture and rich flavour of the liver was enhanced by the taste and consistency of the the polenta, while the hot salami paste kicked the palate into life. The next course was gorgonzola focaccia. The strong and pungent flavours of gorgonzola had been suitably muted to make this another winner. The highlights of the fish course(s) for me were the octopus soup – small chunks of meaty, succulent octopus in a mild and warming aromatic broth; the octopus and potato salad – the subtle flavour and firm texture of the octopus was sensational; the razor clams – cooked to perfection; and the soft shell crab – decadently rich and sweet. The spaghetti in tomato sauce was definitely my favourite dish in the pasta course. The sauce is prepared according to a recipe from around 1800 and the result was a delicate, sweet, fresh taste evoking memories of a perfect summer’s day.The ravioli with Italian sausage and aubergine was a meaty parcel wrapped with delicate pasta, although the robust flavours of rosemary in the chianti cooked risotto cooked were a little overpowering for my palate, but again the other diners enjoyed this dish so simply not to my taste. The main course was veal with spek and parmigiano, crochette (potato cooked the Roman way), broccoli, and aubergine stew. My only slight criticism would be that the aubergine was too spicy for me and this is definitely my problem not that of the dish – I simply can’t eat remotely spicy food! The heady aroma of cigars infused the dining room before dessert was served. We were soon delighted to discover that the smoke was part of the flavouring for a homemade ice-cream served with a dish of tiramisu. The ice cream was rich and the sumptuous texture leant itself well to the warm and comforting smoke flavour. The wines served with the meal ranged from a fruity aromatic white to a light sparkling red and were a well balanced a complement to the courses served.I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a relaxed evening out, so much so that I’ll be booking it for my birthday!

Small Portions. We went in because of the board outside advertising two main courses for 27 which included a bottle of wine but we ended up paying 14.95 each for a very small portion of food . Mine was fig rissotto but had half a fig! The manager / owner was quite unhelpful to the point of being rude when we mentioned it. Don’t think he will do well unless he changes his attitude towards his customers
