Here we go again. I am not a fan of the French but they do create good food. I guess i just don’t like the people and their arrogant cts.I came here because it was empty and i was looking for a place to think and reflect.I went for the 3 course set for 25 pounds. The salmon, the roast chicken and to finish the lemon tart, which was recommended by the waiter. The salmon was well put together, the fish was not too dry and it went well with the salad. After my start i was served, what i can only say is sorbet. Tangy soft cream that just melt but it was hard enough not to become water after i intentionaly waited 3 mins before eating it (while taking more photos)The roast chicken breast was super tasty. I normally don’t like the skin of chicken but this was super flavoursome and crispy. It was a burst of taste that went well with the white meat on the chicken breast. The lemon tart was a slight let down. Knowing the strawberry was not in season and not sweet enough to contrast the sour tart. Dessert was just average.

This lovely new Brasserie has a great future if it maintains the standards experienced during our visit. Seeking somewhere near to the Traverse theatre in the middle of Festival madness we walked along to this place just off Lothian Road. The set lunch offered a range of dishes and two courses at 12.95 and 3 for 14.95, good value in our expensive city. the spinach and watercress soup was a healthy vivid green and tasted delicious. Lovely authentic French bread was offered and devoured. This place is also a deli with good bread and cakes to take away. The owner’s wife is French and he spent a lot of time in France (He was very friendly and came across to chat to us) so proper French cooking can be expected. Main courses included a lovely lemon sole in a tasty sauce and a well cooked rump of lamb. We were just sorry we did not have time for pudding. I liked the white cloths and proper napkins and look forward to trying out the evening menu on my next visit.
