As one of the independent cinemas in Edinburgh that aims to celebrate world cinema in all its brilliance and diversity, we go occasionally to watch classic films or to meet friends at the Filmhouse Cafe Bar for their nachos of which the OH is a massive fan. The food is reasonably priced and the staff are always friendly. It’s not a formal seating sort of place, so help yourself to a table and when you’re ready, head on up to the bar and order your drink and a plate of food to eat while you wait for your chosen film to start or to fill that tummy when a film’s just finished.Conveniently located behind the ticket desk of the cinema shop, you’re invited to sit and relax. If you’re about to head into the cinema, just let the bar staff know and they’ll give you your drink in a plastic cup so you can take it with you into the cinema. I’ve never had a disappointing dining experience at the Cafe Bar, their nachos always fill the void and I’ve become partial to their runny cheese. It always comes out of the kitchen steaming hot and fresh. Now that’s one way to support your local independent business. diyshopaholic.com
