Visiting friends in Edinburgh and they took us to Katie’s for dinner . The place has just been taken over by new owners and the food was fantastic . My favorite dishes would be have to be the chicken liver pate and the mussels were amazing . They also know how to cool the perfect steak . Would recommend a visit !

Katies Diner is a great place for getting some American style food in the capital. Its got an amazing view out onto the park and the interior makes it such a cute and enjoyable place to go for dinner. Adding to the charm is the fact that Katie herself actually cooks all the food herself. They do have a booze license but you can BYOB if you would prefer. We went for the BYOB option to cut down on the price. To start we had the garlic mushrooms which were delicious. They had the right amount of breadcrumbs to mushroom ratio so neither overpowered you. I followed this with a Bacon Cheeseburger this was delicious. Cheese was all melted and the bacon wasnt too crispy which is how I like it. My dining companion went for the Mexiburger which looked good but I didnt taste as it was on the spicy side. We also shared some onion rings. Great food, service and reasonable prices. Though we were warned that if you are in the mood for steak sometimes its best to phone ahead just to check as they make everything fresh sometimes they run out of fillet steaks.
You’ve got to go. This is one of the best small diner’s around great food and great hospitality
