i arrived at edinburgh around 9p.m. and my family hadnt eaten dinner. eventually, this restaurant is right in front of my apartment across the streat, and since its freezing so we just got in there and give it a try. it was nice actually, and the service was friendly. the sirloin steak is a bit too salty, the salmon was fine, the chicken was good, ans i love the fries and its cute, served in a bucket.

This place is hidden away among Quatermile buildings. It’s a cool venue with very trendy decor and friendly staff. It’s perfect for drinks and casual dining. Downstairs it’s more of a bar while upstairs is more suitable for dining. They have outside seating which is a plus and a free pool table. They do different nights – Djs, pub quiz, life music. If there is no entertainment the music playing there is always really good. I had their vegan option which was a superfood salad with quinoa, pecans, brocoli and pomegranate. The salad was good but they could come up with a better dressing to make it more interesting even though the combination of things on the plate was really good. I’d happily try more dishes from the menu and I’ll be definitely returning for drinks.

I really like this place, right in the heart of the quartermile, the location is very cool, nice furniture, free pool table and chilled atmosphere at the second floor, a nice place. Drinks are very good and food too, a small menu but well done. It’s a lovely place for a chat with your friends listening to good music! themeneghingirl.blogspot.com

No 8 is billed as a gastro pub but it does feel a bit like it’s trying too hard! Rather than promote the food and drink on their website it firstly tells you about the owners! However the drinks are good with a decent cocktail menu and interesting lunch selection. As with its predecessor ending it is a bit pricey for drinks but the food menu looks reasonable. We went for lunch today, they have a soup and a sandwich deal for 5.95 which seems good value. I fancied a Caesar salad however, I’ve got to be honest it was the worst one I’ve ever had. And let’s be honest weather spoons do Caesar salads… we’ve all been stuck in a train station with limited options before. The lettuce was brown tinged, the bacon burnt, the chicken unrecognisable small bits, dressing tasteless, and croutons like rocks. Really surprised and quite unimpressed. forkandfizz.com

Really nice addition to Quartermile – feels extravagant but not pretentious! A really good selection of drinks and particularly cocktails – really enjoyed Pineapple Express (although not such a fan of Raspberrita!) On the whole really enjoyable and the decor and atmosphere was great. evelivingston.wordpress.com

What a disappointment. After Enzo didn’t dazzle, I was having such huge hopes for a gastro pub in its replacement.I ordered their beef steak burger and chips, which to me is something that you have to nail. It’s not hard and I think a great judge of the drive behind the food. What a disaster that was served in front of me. The burger meat had specs of pink through, even though the rest was well cooked (how I like it). The next issue with it, was it was like a ball, not a flat burger, a pinch in the middle before cooking helps a ton, but something so basic, disappointed to see it happening for 12 burger. Then the bun it self was pretty stale tasting, the grease from the burger soaked all the way through and destroyed the bottom bun.String fries were ok, but lacked good seasoning. Ketchup came in a small plate, just a bit odd.The one thing I did like and saved half a point on the review, was they did have my preferred Whisky available and why not super hard to find, is always a pleasure when available.Maybe I’m a bit over harsh, but come on, how can you screw up a burger. It will take a work event or something else to get me to go back in, will be skipping in the future when it comes to places to head to after work.
