Food was nothing special, the price for two racked up to over 60! Service was mediocre but disappointing especially from the waiter who put prawn crackers down on our table before the meal (like any usual restaurant appetiser) but to our surprise it came up as 1.50 on our bill. Slightly shocked, but a pre-warning beforehand would have been appreciated greatly.Overall the dishes were only visually appealing, as noodles were cold and specialty curry dish was bland. Would not recommend as not worth the money.
This place was amazing! Quite spicy… in a good way! We’ve not had better Thai food anywhere from the appetizer to dessert! Definitely recommend! We are travelers from the USA. This was easily our most expensive meal out, but absolutely worth it!
An excellent evening out for those with a real passion for fine dining and Thai cuisine. Highly recommend the beef salad, though not for those afraid of the heat. Black rice pudding is a beautiful dessert offering, for the adventurous of visual, but sweet of tooth.
One of my favourite Thai places. But booking is probably essential, especially on weekend naturally. To me, food is authentic and portion sizes are good. Prices are reasonable too. 8 for a curry and 11 for a main dish. What I recommend? Their fish dishes for sure! And their red and green curry. Sigh…reminds me of my holidays back in Thailand. All their Thai salads are fantastic and be careful, it’s done the Thai way and so definitely has a kick in it.
Last weeks, mid week dining was Passorn. A friend suggested that a group of us meet here for dinner after work. We went quite early so the atmosphere was not great but the staff were very attentive. I ordered the spring rolls and a wok dish with coconut rice. The spring rolls were good but a bit peppery, however the chili sauce was delicious. My main was good but I wish I had opted for the Thai red curry as it was very tasty. The coconut rice was a great side dish. I will definitely be going back to have the Thai red curry but I would probably wait until the weekend, to soak up a better atmosphere.
Disaster.. Both I and my girlfriend went to the restaurant a few days ago.The restaurant was not even half full so we expected food to arrive in good time and the waiters to have an easy job.First of all, the table was too small for two. Infact, if you wanted to eat in proper Thai style and order more than a single dish at once, you mays well ask for a whole table for yourself – it was extremely crampt. Got served and made our food orders – there were 5 different dishes asked for. The first two came after about 20 minutes – quite a long time considering they were both small and only ‘starters’. The rice did not come with them so we asked the waiter. Nothing for 5 minutes. We asked another waiter as our starters were getting cold. Then after a while, the rice finally came. (It was only steamed rice and we requested it when making our orders!). The first two dishes were OK in terms of taste but not much more than that. They were also very small in size compared to other Thai restaurants in Edinburgh so value for money was poor.We asked one of the waitresses (Thai) if we ordered satays from the menu before and if not, could she add it in. This was spoken in both English and Thai (my girlfriend being Thai). She said OK and went off.A few minutes after, my girlfriend asked another waitress if we could have the other dishes together at the same time. Que the waitress being rude to her and also slightly rude to me explaining why they did not come together. I’ll let her off speaking to me since her first language is not English, though I cannot excuse her being rude as she spoke in Thai to my girlfriend. Extremely unpleasant. The next 2 dishes that came were worse than the first ones. One was hardly touched since it was such a disaster and the other was extremely medicore. Again, taste aside, compared to other Thai restaurants here the value for money was again poor. Oh, and the chicken satays failed to turn up.When those dishes were collected by the same waitress we asked about the satays, I asked if they were still to come. What followed was not much of a reply and she shuffled off.10 minutes later, we ordered dessert. Normally I wouldn’t order dessert but after 5 poor dishes I was about as hungry as when I came in to the restaurant. Value for money was better than the previous dishes and quality was better – though that’s hardly saying much at all.We asked for the bill after finishing dessert. Surprise surprise, the satays were not even marked down. What the hell was the waitress doing? To summarise: Value for money was extremely poor. Service from one waitress was non existent and didn’t even put down our satay order after asking her 2 times. Service from the other waitress was ultimately unpleasant and rude, and left a damper on the night even though it had barely started. Food was poor. Table was too small and crampt. Waiting times for food was also poor even though the restaurant wasn’t even half full.ps. When the bill came it made a statement that service charge was not included (as per normal for all customers). Easy to see why !!Lucky to get 1/5 stars. I will never go back and recommend others to try elsewhere.
Gorgeous food – the pre-theatre menu was fab and inexpensive. Lovely setting and very friendly and accommodating staff. Very impressed.
