Amazing food, really great value for money! Superb service made personal with friendly staff. Just to top off the experience, at the end of our breakfast they brought over delicious caramel squares for free with the bill. 100% would recommend and would go back again.
Looking for the most traditional greasy spoon fry up in Edinburgh? Quick and Plenty is it. Cheap, polite service and more grease than you’d need to trap a bear. Recommended for days when the world is spinning.
With a curious schedule ahead that wouldnt see me get a break for lunch until around 3pm, I thought a fried breakfast was justifiable. I set sail for Tollcross in the direction of the Quick & Plenty Cafe, which Id spotted when I was visiting The Treehouse, the other day.A neat little diner with half a dozen booth tables, its a compact place with a down-at-heel charm. The seats have seen better days, but it has a happy, settled feel to it.The counter man couldnt have been more polite and attentive. Once Id placed my order for a full breakfast (their middle-sized one) he set about cooking it in the little cabin kitchen. It promptly arrived accompanied by tea and a buttered roll. It proved to be an enjoyable eat. I popped the bacon and black pudding on to a roll, topped it with brown sauce and munched. It was good stuff. The remaining items, a nicely cooked egg, lorne and link sausage and a tomato were all to a decent standard, too. Eye-catchingly bonnie, no, but tasty nevertheless. So overall, Quick & Plenty lived up to its name. It provided me with a hearty breakfast that saw me through the day in good style. I can see myself coming back for another visit, not least because the friendly service is first class.ScoresBlythe scores Quick & Plenty3.5/5 for food2.5/5 for presentation4/5 for service3/5 for settinggiving an overall 13/20I ate: special breakfastI drank: teaI wore: full questing pinstripesTotal bill: 4.50 lunchquest.co.uk
