I really like The Blackbird for drinks. It can get crowded by I really like the atmosphere, music and the staff. It’s usually buzzing and mostly very crowded on Fridays and Saturdays. I still need to visit them for food so watch this space for more to follow! 🙂

After a long walk along the canal my sister, nephew and I went to The BlackBird for Brunch. I had seen the menu and was very excited about a good few dishes. My sister went for the the full breakfast. I went for french toast and bacon, We both ordered tea. The teas were bitter. I’m not sure why but very displeasing to try and drink. My sister enjoyed her breakfast and I have to say my french toast was so light and fluffy. It was a joy that was hindered by the stingy portion of bacon. 3 pieces of bacon for 3 large pieces eggy bread just wasn’t enough. We were both left a little hungry from our meals so i ordered the Grilled cheese sandwich: Manchego, sliced pear, fresh raspberries. It sounded so interesting and was nice but didn’t work as much as it should have. I put this down to delivery of the dish as the flavour combinations worked. thehobson.co.uk

Such a cosy feel to this place with lovely staff and great food! Everything you want when you head out for some pub grub. They also have a great selection of drinks, don’t think I’ve ever had the same thing twice. Also often have live music on which only adds to the experience, generally just an enjoyable place to go.

We went today for lunch and it was lovely! They have a brilliant cocktail menu with loads of choice all split down by the type of drink eg long, martini. That way you can decide on the type of drink as well as the ingredients. They have a good selection of food for lunch and offer gluten free etc options. I had a tempura prawn and bacon wrap with hot sauce and chips which wasn’t that big but was really tasty. The salty bacon went so well with the prawns and chips were proper ones. My friend had a super food salad with chicken that looked good too. Both our meals were around 9 which is ok for lunch. The staff were really friendly too! forkandfizz.com

We visited the Blackbird one mid-week evening and were surprised to find the place so busy. We had a quick drink at the bar whilst our table was cleared and it gave us a chance to take in our surroundings. There was a pretty tasty cocktail menu and they have two very comfy looking sofas which would come in handy on a lazy sunday afternoon. On our visit we had the beer battered king prawns and the coconut chicken to start. We didn’t expect the starters to be as big as they were. You could definitely order a few between friends and snack as you sample a cocktail or two. The mains didn’t disappoint either. The stak pie was packed full of steak pieces and came with a healthy sized serving of chips. The goats cheese and mushroom burger was delicious and to make it even tastier I asked for some bacon on it as well which they were more than happy to do.By the time we were leaving the place was buzzing and had a great atmosphere. We can’t wait to go back and sample the cocktails. edinburgers.co.uk
