If you’re a beer fan like me you will love this place! It’s a little bit hidden on Lauriston Place, out of the main Lothian Road bars strip but if you make an effort to go there you won’t regret it. They have Paulaner on tap, both lager and wheat beer and they have a huge selection of bottled beers from all around the world. You’ll definitely find your favourite! The service is nice and I like the minimalistic wooden tables that you sit at. Definitely one to try soon if you haven’t been yet!
Have you ever wanted more from your night than lukewarm Tennents and groggy old men? Have you ever wanted beer that doesn’t taste like it was funneled through a dying squirrel’s innards? Have you ever looked into your murky glass of Fosters and wished it would all end? Have you ever come home at 1am, curled into the fetal position and silently wept, wishing the taste of Red Stripe would dissipate?Go to Brauhaus. Seriously, if you like beer just go. You shouldn’t even be reading this really, you should have grabbed your coat by now. You’re still reading? But there’s hundreds of different types of Beer from around the world waiting for you, all contained in a snug little bar with board games galore. Still want more proof? OK, I’ve got your back that’s what I’m here for. My mate totally loves it and he went to Octoberfest once, so obviously he knows what he’s talking about. My other mate didn’t even like beer and after visiting Brauhaus she can’t get enough, actually I’m quite worried about her. But I can’t blame Brauhaus for that, I can however drown my sorrows in one of their amazing beers, which I will do. Right now.BYE
Maybe it’s the pine panels and floor and tables; perhaps it’s something to do with the fact it was -1 and snowing quite heavily outside the night we were in, or it could just be to do with the excessive amount of double-figure-percentage beer I had consumed but Brauhaus has a proper feel of a small wood cabin perched on an Alpine mountainside, fueling weather-wearied travelers with a truly tremendous selection of beer.Alas, Tollcross is not some glorified hill in Europe, though Brauhaus would make an excellent base camp for an assault on Potterrow at the peak of Lauriston Place, or, as we treated it, a theatre of battle in the ancient art of Connect-4 Combat.I do very muchly wish I could remember the names of the beers I tried, though they were many and much potent. It may be altitude sickness, though my diagnosis is a much more likely bout of alcohol-induced amnesia.A perfect spot to warm up and talk long into the night, clashing glasses (take care not to break – many of them are limited-run special beer quaffers, although you should be ok with the larger Steins) joining in the hubbub that always accompanies a good beer bar.
