Being Scottish I love a good bit of deep-fried goodness, lathered in brown sauce to exasperate the flavours of the meats I order that have been submerged in the boiling hot liquid.La Campagnola is the only chippy that is within the confines of the West End of Edinburgh, and it delivers the greasey goodness that Scotsmen crave, and that tourists strive to find. Having had a chippy from here on several occasions, it is actually very good considering the lack of direct competition.The staff are always very friendly and make time to chat with their customers and the chips are always made fresh – this cuts down on the cold and semi-solid chips that invade your meal. The sauce is however a let down, it is too thick for a traditional chippy sauce, which indicates that they need to add in a bit more vinegar.All in all, it is a fine chippy and a welcome change from the delis and restaurants of the West End.
