The coffee was the best I’ve had in quite a while – we both had an Americano. Not oversized but well made with a lovely flavour. We also had the chorizo wrap and the vegetarian wrap. These were a really nice change from the normal breakfasts you get on most menus. They’ve really thought about the flavours in these wraps with comte cheese making them lovely and gooey. I wouldn’t change a thing. The staff were very friendly and I highly recommend Milk.

Lovely cafe for coffee and cake! The menu has a huge selection of vegetarian and vegan options- bit cramped to sit inside so avoid the lunchtime rush, or plan to take out.

We loved Milk so much we went there 3 days in a row. The food was great but it was the service that made it a delight to return time and time again. A hidden gem!

The Milky Way. About 5 mins from the Haymarket is this little cafe on Morrison street. In the door and the tiny benches, tiled walls and simple decor make you smile. The menu is tempting (choritzo burrito) but I have a latte and a chocolate brownie. The coffee was good, the brownie very good so all in all I would recommend it. It’s quite quirky and a change from the usual chintzy chains.

Great place- will be back. Brilliant selection of food- it surely stands out from the surrounding cafes. I had the thai green curry which had a great kick to it, provided some much needed winter warmth. I would reccomend the brownie, its delicious. Will look forward to returning.

Milk Saves the Day. On a visit to Edinburgh earlier this week I was keen to try out the Pho Vietnam House for my lunch before heading back west. Pregnancy means I need a summer roll fix every now and then and they are not easy to come by in Scotland! I was more than excited when I stepped into the premises only to discover they are closed 2pm-5pm. It was 2.10. What a drag! The cheery party of American ladies gulping down pho in the corner did their best to make me feel even more jealous, they seemed happy with their food indeed.Ravenous and tired I walked back Morrison Street towards Haymarket ready to give up when I stumbled upon this lovely little place. Milk is a good example of how Edinburgh beats Glasgow by far when it comes to affordable good lunches in nice environments. It is a beautifully decorated space. Good fonts, perfect shades, clean lines, yet cosy – you could be in Scandinavia.Homemade lemonade with a twist of ginger for 1.50 (you could not be in Scandinavia) clenched my thirst as I took my seat and pondered the food on offer. Keralan veg curry served with flatbread and salad sounded good but I opted for the Vietnamese shredded chicken salad for obvious reasons. Two kinds of cabbage, carrot, chicken, coriander, mint, peanuts and pickles were piled on my plate in a nicely presented way. I would have wished for the dressing to have a bit more of a punch but this is a minor detail under these circumstances. This is food that tastes good and does you good. And this for 3.50! The salad was followed by a brownie that was baked to absolute perfection, offering chunky nuts and a surprising hint of orange. My good mood had returned with the great food and the spring sun beaming through the window. All in all a very cool place with a whiff of California, although there the lemonade would have been served in a Kerr jam jar of course…
